The ISEAS - Yusof Ishak Institute is a leading research centre dedicated to the study of socio-political, security and economic trends and developments in Southeast Asia and its wider geostrategic and economic environment.Applications are invited for the following position:
Intern (Data/AI Management & Governance)
[What you will be working on]
ISEAS IT serves the Institute through providing effective and timely IT services and support. In this main role, the team provides helpdesk and technical support to all staff and researchers on desktop computers, devices, software, email, websites, and network/wireless connectivity.
On a daily basis, the team maintains the network infrastructure, wide area connections, as well as backend infrastructure (which includes various servers, systems, and server-side applications). Being the web manager, IT administers all ISEAS websites, and assists in the posting of new messages/feeds to social media and video channels.
In other functions, the IT Division develops and maintains IT policies (in compliance with IM8), educate end-users in IT security and desktop applications, as well as assist to administer the door access system and readers. Managing the IT recurrent funds for the entire organisation, IT will also assist in the procurement of IT-related equipment and systems to support the operations and production work of other departments.
As always, the team is constantly on the lookout for any existing or emerging technologies to further improve IT services and support, or to enhance user experiences and productivity. The team has also strived to improve IT security awareness of staff through better communication and information dissemination.
Responsibilities
Assist in documenting and refining processes related to stages in the AI or Data Lifecycle.
Support execution of tasks on AI use cases AI governance.
Participate and guide user user on use of data/AI tools for the ISEAS environment.
Assist in creating AI-related training collaterals.
Undertake other ad hoc data-related tasks as required.
[What we are looking for]
Requirements
Proactive and able to take initiative in completing tasks.
Interested in administrative work related to data support.
Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); basic knowledge of data organisation and reporting.
Familiar with Power BI or willing to learn for data visualisation tasks.
Some exposure to data or AI-related projects (e.g., coursework, school projects, or personal exploration) will be an advantage.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
At least a Higher Nitec or Diploma in Business Administration, IT, Data Analytics, or a related field.
Internship Period: Nov 2026 - Jan 2027
