As a growing business we have a big focus on developing skills and continuous learning. From formal qualification to the life lessons of worldwide travel, we offer our people a broad range of personal and professional development opportunities. All of our roles give people the chance to stretch themselves and learn from colleagues with a wealth of experience. As our business grows, we want our people to grow too. So we’re determined to create opportunities for everyone to drive their development and define their own career path.

Due to continued expansion, Carnival UK is recruiting Safety Officers

Step into a leadership role where safety comes first - always.

As a market leader in the cruise line industry, we operate spectacular ships all over the world. Each time we hit the seas, there’s one thing we never, ever compromise on - the safety of our passengers and crew. And as Safety Officer on board, you’ll make sure that it always stays that way.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Acting as the most senior deck officer after the Staff Captain
  • Investigating all major and serious accidents and incidents
  • Managing a small team of Deck Crew, leading the day-to-day planned maintenance of safety and emergency equipment
  • Maintaining oversight of the shipboard emergency response organisation
  • Ensuring all key emergency response positions are covered by suitably trained and certificated personnel
  • Remaining fully competent as a watch keeping Officer
  • Supplementing the Bridge watch and taking ‘the charge’ as needed

What we’re looking for:

  • A professional and calm leader, especially under pressure
  • Someone who leads by example and actively promotes a strong safety culture
  • A leader who puts health and safety at the heart of all planning and decision-making

To join us as Safety Officer, you’ll need:

  • A Master’s Unlimited (II/2) certificate with no limitations
  • Experience in rank as Safety Officer
  • Strong technical understanding of cruise ship operations
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety rules and regulations
  • Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal and organisational skills

Experience on board a cruise ship is essential.

In return we are able to offer a structured promotion programme, providing a visible pathway for your development, attractive company benefits as well as working as part of a huge operation not only within the deck department but with the wider ships company also. It takes great passion and real dedication to maintain our position at the top. That’s why people are at the heart of our journey, delivering the highest standards to our valued Guests.

So, if you’re driven and determined and wish to develop your future with a world-leading ship’s company that includes the prestigious P&O Cruises and Cunard Line brands, apply now!

At Carnival UK, we collaborate with a variety of reputable agencies who will never ask you to pay a hiring fee or any other associated monies in order to submit an application to us. All applications are reviewed against the same criteria and using an agency will not increase your chances of being successful.
