At carsales, we’re all about making buying and selling a great experience. Since 1997, we’ve been evolving with the new economy to help people choose how they move - Today and tomorrow.

When it comes to your career, we want to offer meaningful opportunities that empower you to make a lasting impact. But for that to happen, we strive to feel small-small enough to stay agile, learn across teams, and connect authentically with each other.

With a vision to be the global leader in online vehicle marketplaces, we’re transforming how people buy and sell across the world. We discover new ideas and bring them to life. We continue to grow, and we continue to evolve-and we’re not afraid to take bold steps to get there.

This role sits within our Content team, which produces the reviews, comparisons and news that help millions of Australians make confident decisions about the cars, motorbikes, trucks, caravans and boats they buy. Spanning journalists, photographers and video producers, the team turns deep automotive knowledge into engaging content across our websites, YouTube and social platforms. It's known for combining editorial credibility with strong visual storytelling, and video sits right at the centre of how the team grows its audience and brand.

We embrace hybrid working-combining the flexibility of remote work with the energy and connection of in-person collaboration. We champion flexibility and offer a range of policies and leave options to support your wellbeing.

What’s on offer

  • Recognition as one of Australia’s Best Workplaces™ by Great Place to Work®, a Family Friendly Workplace, a WORK180 endorsed employer.
  • A highly engaged, collaborative team where you’ll learn from exceptional talent.
  • 24 weeks paid parental leave for primary caregivers, four weeks for secondary caregivers, and six weeks paid gender-affirming care leave.
  • Regular hackathons, continuous learning opportunities, and wellbeing initiatives that support your mental, emotional, and physical health.

What you'll be doing:

We're looking for a Journalist to produce high-quality editorial content across our website, YouTube, and social platforms, working alongside our Senior Journalist and Managing Editor to build out our editorial output. You'll grow your skills across formats - including on-camera presentation - while building strong industry relationships and contributing fresh ideas to the team.

You'll:

  • Research, write, and produce editorial content - including reviews, comparisons, features, and news - to a consistently high standard
  • Translate emerging trends and industry developments into new content ideas and story angles for the team
  • Present on-camera video content such as reviews and explainers
  • Represent the editorial team at media events, launches, and industry functions, building relationships with industry contacts
  • Share knowledge and contribute to editorial planning, content calendar development, and cross-team collaboration with Production and Audience Development

What we're looking for:

We're looking for someone who brings curiosity, strong writing ability, and a genuine interest in the automotive industry, along with the willingness to grow into on-camera and multimedia work.

  • Familiarity with automotive content, whether through journalism, enthusiast writing, or industry experience
  • Proven ability to write to deadline across multiple formats, from breaking news to features and reviews
  • Openness to developing on-camera presentation skills, even without prior experience
  • Comfortable representing the brand at external events and building relationships with industry contacts
  • A collaborative approach to working with senior editorial, production, and audience teams

We know not everyone will meet every requirement, and that’s okay. If you’re excited about the role and believe you can make a difference, we’d love to hear from you.
