Job Title: Staff Software Engineer SAP ABAP

Location: Manyata Tech Park, Bangalore (Hybrid)

Business & Team: CommSec is Australia's largest online retail stockbroker. It is one of the most highly visible and visited online assets in Australian financial services. CommSec’s systems utilise a variety of technologies and support a broad range of investors. Impact & contribution: As SAP Banking Technical Consultant, you will be responsible for guiding the designs within your SAP domain to align to the SAP Application Architecture. Specifically, as a Technical Consultant, you are responsible for identifying Build Inventory Items, designing and configuring Technicality and testing the Technicality to ensure business requirements are met. You would also be expected to build intimate relationships with the business to ensure we are delivering what the business wants and needs.

The Technical Consultant is required to:

• Collaborate & Consume requirements from Business Analysts & application architects
• Collaborate with the SAP Application Architect and Technical SME’s to prototype solutions to explore alternatives, seeking SAP standard solutions with a low cost of ownership
• Seek opportunities for continuous improvement of the SAP solution area utilising your knowledge of SAP, your collaboration with production support and other partners such as SAP
• Adopt a ‘Design to Run’ mentality to deliver robust solutions that are fully supportable in a production environment
• Design Medium/Low Complexity Build Items
• Govern and guide all other medium/low complexity designs with Developers & Designers within your domain.
• SAP Domain (Capability) ownership & governance into Solution Delivery Managers in a project context.

Roles & responsibilities:

• Communicate with product and business teams to gather and analyse business requirements, translate it into technical design and prepare technical specification documents.

• Work closely with stakeholders and change management to identify impacts of system or application changes to business processes.

• Debug complex problems and provide excellent customer service by delivering superior code quality to specifications.

• Adherence to standardised development (Coding, testing, documentation).

• Participate in Agile events, internal team and status meetings, in project planning sessions with team members to analyse development requirements, provide design options, breakdown and estimates of work.

• Work on complex and distributed SAP landscapes.

• Provide support and participate in testing activities ensuring adequate automation coverage.

• Being bound to internal SAP release guidelines.

• Mentors and up-skills other engineering teams across different crews.

• Manage conflicts, issues and risks to optimize the solution and ensure alignment to scope.

• Continually learning modern technology best practices and bring them back to the group. Go above and beyond in improving quality and performance in the delivery of efficient, reliable and maintainable application and solutions that meet design and requirements specifications for technology projects.

• Undertake any other tasks assigned by your manager that you have the capability to perform safely in line with relevant internal Bank policies and external regulatory requirements.

Essential skills:

• Strong experience in SAP ABAP Production Support with expertise in incident management, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and code optimization.

• Proficient in OOABAP, ABAP on HANA (CDS, OData, RAP, ABAP 7.5+), SOA services, and parallel processing

• Strong knowledge in design principles of OOABAP.

• Hands-on experience in root cause analysis, defect resolution, ABAP Unit Testing, TDD, and production monitoring.

• Skilled in supporting critical business applications, ensuring system stability, SLA compliance, and continuous process improvement.

• Exposure to abapGit.

• Architect & implement scalable solutions to solve highly complex problems and deliver high quality solutions.

• Passion for new technology, continuous learning, innovation, improvement and optimization.

Education Qualification: Bachelor's / master’s degree in engineering/ information systems from an accredited university.
