Location: London / Greater London / Thames Valley.

Total compensation: Up to £55,000 inclusive of shift allowances, overtime opportunities and dependant on experience.

Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time, Day or Night shift available.

As a Water Network Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining network performance, protecting water quality and ensuring operational activities are delivered safely and efficiently.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced operational professional to take ownership of network activities, provide technical expertise and support the development of future talent within our field workforce.

What you will do

As a Water Network Technician, you will independently plan, coordinate and deliver a wide range of operational activities across the water distribution network.

You will be responsible for:

  • Planning and undertaking complex distribution main isolations as well as trunk main and transmission mains isolations, ensuring there is no Supply Interruption impact.
  • Asset proving and operability checks.
  • Mains tracing and asset identification.
  • Network investigations and diagnostics.
  • Directional flushing programmes.
  • Water quality activities e.g. sample collection, risk mitigation & incident response.
  • Logger deployment and data interpretation.
  • Customer impact assessments & complex customer investigations.
  • Contractor supervision and assurance.
  • Client relationships.
  • Incident response and escalation support.
  • Coaching and mentoring Operatives and Academy learners.

This role requires strong technical expertise, sound operational judgement and a commitment to delivering excellent customer outcome.

What Success Looks Like

As a successful Water Network Technician, you will:

  • Lead operational activities safely and effectively.
  • Make informed technical decisions that protect the network.
  • Understand and manage customer and operational risk.
  • Ensure compliance with procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Support and develop less experienced colleagues.
  • Deliver excellent customer and stakeholder outcomes.
  • Act as a technical role model within the field workforce.

Essential Requirements

  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Satisfactory Basic DBS.
  • First Aid Qualification.
  • EUSR National Water Hygiene.
  • NRSWA Streetworks qualification.
  • Proven experience within water network operations.
  • Experience of mains isolation activities.
  • Good understanding of water quality principles.
  • Experience using network monitoring and diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to interpret network plans and GIS information.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Commitment to health, safety and compliance.
  • Leakage detection experience.
  • Experience coaching or mentoring operational colleagues.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Confined Space Training.
  • Trunk Main Operations experience.
  • Pressure management experience.
  • Contractor management experience.
