About the team

Checkout.com is building the infrastructure that will allow merchants to be discovered, transacted with and paid through AI agents.

Agentic commerce is moving quickly from concept to production. AI platforms, card schemes and merchants are developing different protocols for discovery, cart, payment, identity and consent. No standard has won, and merchants should not have to rebuild their commerce stack for every new platform.

We are looking for a Product Manager to help make Checkout.com the layer that connects this ecosystem. This is a 0→1 role in a new product area with live merchant and platform activity, a growing inventory API, ACP and UCP work, and a roadmap that will extend across discovery, cart and payment.

What you will own

• Define and execute the product strategy for Agentic Commerce, balancing what merchants need now with the infrastructure that will matter as the market develops.

• Turn a fragmented protocol landscape-including ACP, UCP, Visa and Mastercard agent programmes, and emerging trust and intent standards-into a coherent, protocol-agnostic product experience.

• Build the next stage of the product: live catalogue and inventory feeds that make merchants discoverable across AI surfaces, followed by the right cart and orchestration capabilities.

• Extend Checkout.com ’s payment strengths into agentic flows: delegated credentials, authentication, agent identification, consent, risk decisioning, approval performance and dispute evidence.

• Work directly with AI platforms, schemes, merchants and internal commercial teams to understand real integration requirements and turn pilots into repeatable products.

• Own the product details end to end: APIs, developer experience, merchant onboarding, operational controls, reporting, commercial model and launch readiness.

• Lead cross-functional delivery with Engineering, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Partnerships, Marketing and Sales. Make decisions, resolve dependencies and keep work moving.

• Explain complex technical and regulatory questions clearly to engineers, merchants, partners and senior leadership.

What success looks like

• Merchants can integrate once and reach multiple AI surfaces as their protocols mature.

• The first agentic merchants go live quickly, with a clear path from pilot to repeatable onboarding.

• The inventory and payment experiences are reliable, observable and simple for developers to use.

• Agentic transactions have the controls and signals needed to protect merchants, improve approval rates and handle disputes.

• Checkout.com has a differentiated position based on merchant value and payment performance-not just a list of protocol integrations.

• The roadmap is grounded in evidence: merchant demand, usage, approval value, integration effort and commercial potential.

Skills and experience

• Strong product management experience building merchant-facing infrastructure, platform or API products. Experience in payments is highly valued.

• Working knowledge of card payments: authorisation, tokenisation, PSP/acquirer flows, wallets, 3DS/SCA, risk and schemes.

• Curiosity about AI agents and how they use tools, permissions, mandates and payment credentials. You do not need to be an AI researcher, but you do need to understand the implications for commerce and payments.

• Evidence of owning an ambiguous 0→1 problem and taking it from customer discovery through launch and iteration.

• The judgement to separate table stakes from genuine differentiation, and to change direction when the market or evidence changes.

• Comfort working with external partners and senior stakeholders. You will need to represent Checkout.com, not simply attend the meeting.

This role is a good fit if

• You are comfortable being early, technical and commercially accountable at the same time.

• You can move between a merchant conversation, an API contract, a scheme requirement and an investment case and make each one clearer.

• It is not a role for someone looking for a settled market, a fully formed roadmap or a narrow feature area. The opportunity is to help define the category while building something merchants can use now.
