Application Support Analyst with SRE

Citi is looking for an Application Support Intermediate Analyst to deliver reliable, high-quality technical support across critical business applications within a global financial services environment. In this role, you will serve as a key connector between end users, technology teams, and vendors - diagnosing complex issues, driving long-term resolutions, and contributing directly to the stability and performance of systems that underpin Citi's core operations. Your work will have a direct impact on the effectiveness of the teams and business processes that depend on these applications every day.

Responsibilities

• Deliver technical and business application support to end users and traders, resolving incidents efficiently while coordinating with technology partners to implement sustainable, long-term fixes.
• Act as the primary liaison between business users, internal technology groups, and third-party vendors to ensure issues are triaged, escalated, and resolved with minimal disruption.
• Participate in the full application release lifecycle - from development and testing through to production deployment - and conduct post-release validation checks to confirm system health.
• Analyse applications to identify risks, vulnerabilities, and security gaps, and apply sound judgment to recommend and implement appropriate solutions.
• Collaborate with development colleagues to prioritise bug fixes and enhance support tooling, ensuring both immediate needs and longer-term platform quality are addressed.
• Take active ownership of support improvement initiatives focused on system stability, operational efficiency, and service effectiveness.
• Develop and maintain clear technical support documentation to enable consistent, repeatable processes across the team.
• Participate in disaster recovery testing to validate system resilience and ensure business continuity preparedness.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• 5-8 years of experience in application support or a closely related technical discipline.
• Hands-on experience working with middleware platforms such as WebLogic or WebSphere, or containerized environments including OpenShift or ECS.
• Strong foundational knowledge of AI/ML concepts, including machine learning models, natural language processing (NLP), and data pipelines.
• Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Splunk, ITRS, Grafana, GCO, ELK Stack, Datadog, with the ability to use these platforms to detect, investigate, and resolve issues.
• Knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles, with an understanding of system reliability, availability, and stability practices.
• Experience using issue tracking and problem management tools to log, report, and manage incidents through to resolution.
• Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

Beneficial Skills & Qualifications

• Scripting ability in Python or similar languages, supporting automation, diagnostics, or tooling improvements within the support function.
• Understanding of financial markets and products, providing useful context when supporting trading or business-facing applications.
• Experience contributing to process improvement or standardization initiatives within a technology support environment.
• Familiarity with how application support integrates across broader technology functions, and an awareness of its commercial impact.
