Citi is one of the largest banks in the world, tracing its lineage to the City Bank of New York founded in 1812 and taking its modern shape through the 1998 merger that created Citigroup. Its most distinctive asset is a cross-border payments and treasury network unmatched by any competitor, moving trillions of dollars a day for multinational corporations, governments and other banks across roughly ninety countries. Alongside that institutional franchise it runs markets and investment banking, wealth management and a United States personal bank, and has spent recent years simplifying itself by exiting consumer operations across Asia, Europe and Latin America.

Position Summary

The Corporate Banking Senior Analyst is responsible for assisting in relationship management, credit underwriting, and transaction execution for Citi’s Real Estate Corporate Banking (RECB) clients.

This role sits strategically between the Analyst and Associate levels. It is designed for an experienced professional who has mastered foundational financial modeling and credit analysis, and is ready to take on greater transaction leadership, direct client interaction, and mentorship of junior Analysts.

The Real Estate Corporate Banking group manages relationships with leading public Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), and large sponsors. The Senior Analyst will work closely with Associates, Vice Presidents, Directors, and Managing Directors to deliver comprehensive financial solutions, including syndicated loans, debt and equity capital markets products, derivatives, and treasury services.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Credit Underwriting & Portfolio Management

  • Credit Memorandums: Lead the drafting and structuring of comprehensive credit memorandums, annual reviews, and quarterly monitoring reports for risk approval.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct thorough credit analysis, including detailed financial statement analysis, corporate structure reviews, and risk rating assessments.
  • Portfolio Monitoring: Monitor an assigned portfolio of real estate corporate clients, ensuring strict compliance with financial covenants, tracking industry trends, and managing credit administration requirements.

2. Financial Modeling & Valuation

  • Advanced Modeling: Develop, maintain, and stress-test complex cash flow models and valuation frameworks for diverse real estate asset classes (multifamily, industrial, office, retail, and lodging).
  • Metrics Mastery: Analyze real estate-specific metrics, including Net Operating Income (NOI), Capitalization Rates, Loan-to-Value (LTV), Debt Service Coverage Ratio (DSCR), and Funds From Operations (FFO/AFFO).

3. Transaction Execution

  • Deal Execution: Actively participate in the structuring, underwriting, and execution of syndicated and bilateral credit facilities, bridge loans, and construction loans.
  • Due Diligence & Documentation: Coordinate due diligence processes, review legal documentation (credit agreements, term sheets, intercreditor agreements), and interface directly with Risk, Legal, and Loan Syndications teams.

4. Client Relationship & Business Development

  • Pitch Materials: Assist in the preparation of high-quality pitch books, client presentations, and relationship reviews.
  • Client Interface: Participate in client calls and meetings, addressing operational inquiries and supporting senior bankers in business development efforts.

5. Leadership & Mentorship

  • Junior Guidance: Provide guidance, training, and quality-control support to junior Analysts within the team, helping to foster a collaborative and high-performing environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 2-3 years of relevant experience in Corporate Banking, Investment Banking, Real Estate Finance, or Credit Risk Analysis
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel financial modeling and PowerPoint. Strong understanding of corporate finance, accounting, and real estate valuation principles.
  • Analytical Capabilities: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial concepts clearly to senior management, risk partners, and clients.
  • Work Ethic: Highly motivated, self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines. Strong team player.
  • Licensing: Series 79 and 63 licenses are a plus

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Real Estate, Business Administration, or a related field with a strong academic record.
  • Commitment to personal growth and career development
  • A strong desire to learn and succeed in team environment
