The Digital S/W Engineer Group Manager is a senior management level position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team or department to establish and implement new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology Team. The overall objective of this role is to drive applications systems analysis and programming activities.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and business acumen to drive the design, development, and implementation of enterprise-grade applications. This role requires a commitment to excellence, adherence to industry best practices, and the ability to manage diverse teams and critical stakeholder relationships.
Responsibilities:
Manage multiple teams of professionals to accomplish established goals and conduct personnel duties for team (e.g. performance evaluations, hiring and disciplinary actions)
Provide strategic influence and exercise control over resources, budget management and planning while monitoring end results
Utilize in-depth knowledge of concepts and procedures within own area and basic knowledge of other areas to resolve issues
Ensure essential procedures are followed and contribute to defining standards
Integrate in-depth knowledge of applications development with overall technology function to achieve established goals
Provide evaluative judgement based on analysis of facts in complicated, unique, and dynamic situations including drawing from internal and external sources
Influence and negotiate with stakeholders and senior leaders across functions, as well as communicate with external parties as necessary
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 10+ years of relevant professional experience, with a significant portion dedicated to technology leadership within Wealth Management or the broader Banking domain.
Proven experience in successfully building, leading, and delivering complex technology projects from conception through to deployment and ongoing support.
Demonstrated ability to design, develop, implement, and provide sustained support for enterprise-grade applications.
Extensive experience in managing large technology teams, including those that are geographically distributed across multiple time zones.
Prior experience in senior stakeholder management, effectively communicating and collaborating with executive leadership and key business partners.
Hands-on expertise in developing robust, enterprise-grade applications leveraging modern technology stacks, including:
- Frontend development using Angular or similar JavaScript frameworks.
- Backend development utilizing Java microservices architecture.
- Designing and implementing RESTful APIs.
- Designing and implementing Gen AI based Solutions
Demonstrable expertise in utilizing modern development tools and technologies across all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) (e.g., Devin, GitHub Co-pilot, or equivalent).
Working knowledge and adherence to industry best practices and established software development standards.
A strong and comprehensive understanding of Wealth Management, Retail Banking operations, CRM, various investment products, and critical back-office operations within a financial institution.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts and strategic objectives clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
Demonstrated strong people management skills, including team development, mentorship, and performance management.
Proven project management skills, with the ability to oversee project planning, execution, and successful delivery within established scope, budget, and timelines.
