Product Engineer (Mid-Level)
About the Role
This is a full-stack Product Engineer role at an early-stage AI recruiting startup, working directly alongside founders to build and ship the core product. You'll own features end-to-end - from scoping through production - and have a real hand in shaping technical direction as the team scales.
What You'll Do
Own complete product features from requirements and design through deployment and iteration.
Design APIs and data models, and implement both frontend and backend code.
Build user-facing experiences that balance usability with performance, iterating based on feedback and metrics.
Integrate LLM and AI capabilities into product flows to make intelligence reliable for end users.
Design and implement scalable backend services, data schemas, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and testing.
Collaborate directly with founders, product, and design to prioritize work and define success metrics.
Contribute to architecture and roadmap discussions, making pragmatic tradeoffs suited to early-stage growth.
What We're Looking For
2-8 years of software engineering experience with a track record of shipping user-facing products.
Strong full-stack skills: TypeScript and React/Next.js on the frontend; Python or Node.js on the backend.
Solid experience with PostgreSQL and cloud platforms (AWS or GCP).
Practical, production-grade experience integrating LLMs or AI services (engineering focus, not research).
Proven product sense - able to translate user problems into measurable, practical solutions.
Comfortable working in small teams with limited process, high ambiguity, and broad scope across frontend, backend, and DevOps.
Experience implementing monitoring, observability, and automated testing as part of CI/CD pipelines (metrics, tracing, logging, health checks).
Background with multi-tenant or enterprise-ready systems, API design, real-time systems, or high-throughput applications is a plus.
Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows and/or experience in regulated industries (healthcare, fintech, legal) is a bonus.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $150,000 - $300,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.
