G100 is a Gastroenterology and Hepatology unit that cares for patients with gastrointestinal and liver diseases and pre-transplant patients. Common diagnoses that are treated on this unit include Crohn’s disease, colitis, gastroparesis, gastrointestinal bleeding, pancreatitis, liver failure, complex multi-organ failure, nauseaand sepsis.
A caregiver in this position worksnights, FT, 7:00pm-7:30am (12-hour shifts). Every other weekend and holiday.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide or assistwith patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight, assistingpatients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devicesand removing urinary Foley catheter.
Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, 3mental and emotional conditions to an RN.
Assistwith keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma or GED
Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Nursing students required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross prior to hire
One year of recent, full-time patient care experience
*Additionaleducation/training may substitute for some/all ofthe stated experience
Nursing students who have recently completed a minimum of one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program may substitute the clinical rotation for the required experience
Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered
Physical Requirements:
- Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
- Medium Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force rarely, and/or 0 to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.
- Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
