The Monitor Trainer creates and delivers select training to caregivers. This role develops curriculum, delivers training and provides post-training site support as well as analyzes post training survey data in order to improve training effectiveness.

A caregiver in this position will work varying hours days/evenings/weekends between 7:00am and 3:00pm or between 8:00am and 5:00pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Design and deliver training programs for new telemetry/monitor technicians
• Teach cardiac rhythm interpretation (including arrhythmias and lethal rhythms)
• Provide onboarding, competency validation, and refresher courses
• Develop lesson plans, training manuals, and simulation scenarios
• Ensure staff accurately interpret ECG rhythms in real time
• Reinforce proper monitoring protocols and escalation procedures
• Serve as a clinical resource for complex or difficult rhythm interpretations
• Audit monitor technician performance and documentation
• Identify knowledge gaps and implement corrective training
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies and accrediting bodies (e.g., The Joint Commission)
• Partner with nurse educators, cardiology teams, and leadership
• Coordinate training schedules with unit managers
• Support interdisciplinary communication between monitoring staff and bedside teams
• Train staff on cardiac monitoring systems (e.g., Philips Healthcare or GE Healthcare platforms)
• Ensure proper use of telemetry equipment and alarm systems
• Troubleshoot monitoring issues and educate staff on solutions
• Perform Monitor Technician duties as needed in accordance with departmental standards and patient safety expectations

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Minimum three years training experience and demonstrated training proficiency.
• Background as a telemetry technician, cardiac monitor tech, or nurse
• Strong ECG/arrhythmia interpretation skills

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Bachelor's Degree in Education, Health Service Administration or related field
• EKG Certification or equivalent
• Three years health care experience

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods
• Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment
• Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
