Akron General’s9100 Neuroscience Unit is aprivate 22-bedunit that cares for patients whosuffer fromstrokes, TBI (Traumatic Brain Injuries),spinalcordinjuries and s/p craniotomy (afterstayingin NSICU).As an RNon this team, you will deliver exceptionalcarethroughout the patient care journey. In this role, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed.

On this team, you will have opportunities to get involved in research, be a part of shared governance, gain valuable solid experience for the ICU or other specialtyareasand obtain Med/Surg and Stroke certifications. You will also positively impactthe patientexperience as you will develop good relationships with patients and have a big impacton their lives and their families.

A caregiver in this position worksdaysfrom 7:00AM - 7:30PM, including every other weekend and 3 holidays per year.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide direct nursing care.

  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for a given patient population.

  • Complete ongoing assessments, recognize changes in patientconditionand respond appropriately.

  • Develop and update goals, involve patients and families incareand serve as a patient advocate.

  • Provide nursing care,administertreatments and medication, anddocument.

  • Participate in ongoing interdisciplinary evaluation of patient / family outcomes, contribute to the improvement ofcareandparticipatein the quality improvement process.

  • Delegate tasks, serve as a resource person, pursue ongoing education and specialty certifications,maintainapplicable certification/licensureand obtain any required certifications specific to the unit.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma,ADNor BSN program)

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) Certification or American Red Cross

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor’sofScienceinNursing(BSN)

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required
