Technical Architect

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a hands-on Technical Architect to design secure, scalable, and reliable cloud-native systems built on AWS and PostgreSQL. The role owns architectural decisions across application services, database design, integration, performance, security, and production operations while collaborating closely with engineering and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end solution architecture for backend services, APIs, data persistence, and AWS infrastructure.
• Design PostgreSQL schemas, indexing strategies, query patterns, replication, backup, high availability, and disaster recovery.
• Architect AWS workloads using appropriate services such as VPC, IAM, EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, CloudWatch, RDS, and Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Define non-functional requirements including scalability, latency, availability, security, observability, and cost efficiency.
• Lead architecture reviews, technical design documentation, proof-of-concepts, and technology selection.
• Partner with developers and DevOps engineers to improve CI/CD, infrastructure automation, monitoring, and incident response.
• Guide database migration, capacity planning, performance tuning, and production troubleshooting.
• Mentor engineers, review critical designs and code, and communicate technical trade-offs to stakeholders.

REQUIREMENTS

• 8+ years in software engineering, including 3+ years in solution or technical architecture (proposed target).
• Strong hands-on PostgreSQL expertise: SQL, schema/data modeling, indexing, EXPLAIN/ANALYZE, performance tuning, transactions, and concurrency.
• Proven AWS architecture experience with networking, compute, storage, IAM/security, monitoring, and managed databases (RDS or Aurora).
• Experience designing distributed backend systems, REST APIs, microservices, and integration patterns.
• Understanding of reliability, backup/recovery, high availability, disaster recovery, and security best practices.
• Experience with CI/CD and production deployments; ability to troubleshoot across application, database, and infrastructure layers.
• Ability to document architecture and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Technologies

• AWS RDS for PostgreSQL, Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, AWS Well-Architected Framework.
• Docker, Kubernetes (EKS), Terraform or CloudFormation, GitHub Actions / Jenkins.
• Caching (Redis), messaging (Kafka, SQS/SNS), event-driven architecture.
• PostgreSQL partitioning, logical replication, pgBouncer, advanced monitoring and query optimization.
• Experience with modernization, database migrations, cost optimization, and regulated/high-availability environments.
• AWS Solutions Architect certification or equivalent architecture experience.
