Company Mission
4human's purpose is to simplify and improve everyday work for people, employees and managers. In HR, that means one platform built for Nordic regulations and ways of working, with market-leading sick-leave follow-up and 20+ years of payroll, time and scheduling integrations behind it.
The next stage is bigger than Norway. 4human launched in Sweden in 2026 and is now the core-HR pillar of a Nordic HCM group alongside Eletive (engagement and people analytics) and Tamigo (workforce management), with a shared ambition to become the leading human capital management platform in the Nordics and beyond.
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will help make 4human HRM secure, reliable and efficient as the customer base grows. You will improve the platform used by PHP and Go services, public APIs, integrations and background workers, and make it easier for product teams to deliver safely.
The platform you will work with
Our infrastructure configuration brings together AWS EKS, Terraform and reusable Helm charts. Jenkins builds container images, Flux reconciles environment Helm releases, and the charts generate Argo CD applications for individual services. Monitoring and logging configuration includes Prometheus, Grafana, Thanos, Alertmanager and Fluent Bit, alongside CloudWatch and OpenSearch.
Your future duties
Keep AWS and Kubernetes environments reliable across different environments, plan and carry out EKS and cluster add-on upgrades
Improve reusable Terraform modules, Helm charts, container images and Jenkins pipelines to make infrastructure changes and releases repeatable and easier to review
Make releases safer across services and shared dependencies through deployment ordering, database migration coordination and practical rollback and recovery procedures
Diagnose incidents across ingress, application runtimes, workers, databases, caches and queues; work with developers to resolve causes and prevent recurrence
Improve dashboards and actionable alerts so the team can detect problems earlier and diagnose them faster
Tune workload and node scaling, resource sizing and environment schedules to balance performance, reliability and cloud costs
Strengthen access controls, secrets management and container security; test backup restoration and recovery procedures and keep operational runbooks useful
Bring ideas and collaborate in an international development team
Required experience and technical skills
6+ years in DevOps, SRE or cloud-infrastructure roles, with ownership of production systems
Hands-on AWS operations, especially EKS, EC2, VPC/networking, IAM, S3, ECR, RDS/Aurora and CloudWatch
Kubernetes operations and Helm chart authoring: networking, probes, resource requests and limits, scheduling, persistent storage, upgrades and troubleshooting
Terraform: reusable modules, remote state, reviewed plans and safe changes across accounts and environments
Docker image builds and CI/CD maintenance, with the ability to read and modify existing Jenkins/Groovy pipelines
Production GitOps experience with Argo CD or Flux, and willingness to work with both
Strong Linux, HTTP/TLS, DNS and networking fundamentals; practical automation with Bash, Python or a comparable language
Production observability and incident investigation using metrics, logs, dashboards and actionable alerts; our monitoring tooling includes Prometheus and Grafana
Operational understanding of relational databases, message queues and caches, including connection issues, resource saturation, queue backlogs, retries and recovery
Security fundamentals: least privilege, workload access, secrets management, vulnerability remediation and protection of sensitive data in a multi-tenant SaaS platform
Nice to have
Experience operating Nginx, PHP-FPM/OPcache, Composer and Symfony workers, or supporting developers with application performance diagnosis
Deeper experience with Aurora/MySQL query diagnosis, replication, backup restoration and safe schema changes; RabbitMQ, Redis or Elasticsearch/OpenSearch operations
KEDA workload scaling, Karpenter node provisioning, load testing and cloud-cost optimisation
PromQL, Thanos, Alertmanager and Fluent Bit; secrets tooling such as AWS Parameter Store, External Secrets Operator and SOPS/KMS
AWS API Gateway, Lambda and SQS; Go for maintaining operational automation
Linkerd, Kyverno, KubeArmor or Packer; experience supporting audit-driven or regulated SaaS environments
Familiarity with AI-assisted development, used responsibly to automate repetitive work while reviewing changes and validating security and correctness
HR, payroll or Nordic SaaS domain knowledge
You do not need prior experience with all tools listed above. We value strong production fundamentals, sound judgement and the ability to learn the platform.
Soft skills
Proactiveness and ownership
Clear communication and a practical, improvement-oriented mindset
Ability to work calmly and methodically during incidents
Remote work
The position is remote work, but we usually meet in the Gdańsk office 2-3 times a month. The ideal candidate should be located in Tricity or nearby.
