The Opportunity
We are hiring a Senior/Staff Platform Engineer to build world-class developer experiences at Coda. In this design-and-build role, you will evolve our developer platform, modernize CI/CD pipelines, and build our shared AI layer to help engineers ship safely and fast. Distinct from our InfraOps (SRE) team that operates production at scale, this role focuses directly on designing the platform capabilities and developer tools that make shipping to production safe and efficient.
What you'll do
Design robust developer tools, manage scalable CI/CD pipelines, and drive systemic improvements to core DORA metrics across engineering teams.
Build reusable, versioned Terraform modules, migration playbooks, and golden paths that make infrastructure adoption seamless.
Design context and harness engineering systems-including model gateways, shared MCP servers, tool surfaces, prompt assets, cost budgets, and guardrails for safe execution.
Treat AI tooling with the same rigor as CI/CD by building evaluation harnesses to measure agent quality, adoption, and outcome metrics over novelty.
Implement security-by-design (least-privilege IAM, secrets hygiene, policy-as-code) and actionable observability (structured logging, tracing, SLOs-as-code).
Maintain team-owned tooling, resolve CI/CD production issues, lead cross-team initiatives through design docs and workshops, and join a balanced on-call rotation.
What you'll bring
Proven platform engineering scope, mastery of one language (Go, TypeScript, Python, or Java/Kotlin), and proficiency in a second.
Strong grasp of architecture (SOLID, resilience patterns), XP practices (TDD/BDD, feature flags, safe refactoring), and data system evolution.
Deep experience building with LLMs and coding agents-specifically harness design, tool/MCP integration, agent workflows, and managing model limitations.
Experience designing evaluation frameworks and defining quality signals for non-deterministic model outputs.
Expertise in CI/CD automation, policy-as-code, supply chain integrity, and observability fundamentals.
Bachelor's degree in CS/STEM (or equivalent practical experience) and strong written/verbal English communication skills.
Bonus If you have
Proven experience building internal developer platforms or driving org-wide AI tooling adoption.
Expertise in AWS cloud infrastructure, serverless architectures (AWS Lambda), and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
Track record of leading large-scale refactoring, modernization, or deprecation programs that measurably reduce technical risk.
