Backend Engineer (Java)

We are currently seeking a skilled Java Software Engineer to join our FinTech project and contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of scalable enterprise applications. The role involves working across the full software development lifecycle, collaborating with architects and product managers, developing high-quality Java/Spring solutions, optimizing application performance, and supporting the continuous evolution of financial technology products.

You will be joining a large-scale Finance product development project and participating in the analysis, design and implementation of high-quality software.

Our partner is a leading Fintech solutions provider, offering a wide range of analytics-driven, highly scalable enterprise software solutions in over 35 countries worldwide. Their end-to-end technology solutions cover a wide range of needs for Banking, Financial Services, Utilities, Insurance, Retail organizations, and beyond. The team consists of backend developers utilizing a variety of technologies. Above all, they are looking for self-motivated, detail oriented and enthusiastic people, keen to take on a technically challenging position, working within a team atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute in all phases of the development lifecycle (technical design, code, unit testing, pair reviews, code optimization) and ensure quality standards are adhered to.
• Collaborate closely with Solution Architect and Product manager to optimize product functionality in terms of feature set, performance and scalability and contribute in the product evolution.
• Build and maintain cloud-based enterprise applications.
• Build reusable code and libraries for future use.
• Take part in the Incident, Problem and Change Management processes - during the support & maintenance phases - by implementing bug fixes, upgrades and enhancements to the company’s existing clients.
• Develop technical documentation.
• Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements and support the continued implementation of the Group Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related subject.
• 2 to 5 years of professional experience in application development of enterprise IT software systems and applications; experience gained in Financial Services or Banking Sectors is highly desirable.
• Good understanding of Java and Java Spring Framework in a commercial environment.
• Knowledge of automated build tools such as Maven and Ant.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies and frameworks.
• Working knowledge of Relational Databases and ORM technologies (iBatis, Hibernate etc.).
• Experience in deploying, configuring and maintaining Java Servlet containers (Tomcat) and in writing unit tests (JUnit, Selenium) is desirable.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Good organizational skills, ability to deliver within strict timeframes.
• Highly motivated and eager to develop professionally.
• Ability to work efficiently both on own initiative and within a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience in FinTech, Banking, or Financial Services environments.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot and cloud-based applications.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Hibernate/JPA and relational databases such as Oracle or PostgreSQL.
• Knowledge of automated testing and quality practices, including JUnit, Selenium, code reviews, and performance optimization.
