Senior Software Quality Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Quality Engineer to support the delivery of high-quality FinTech and regulatory software solutions. The successful candidate will lead test planning, test design, manual testing, and test automation across applications, APIs, microservices, and data pipelines.

The role involves testing solutions that automate license issuance, screening, and document-submission workflows for a financial institution. It requires strong technical testing skills, a structured approach to quality assurance, and the ability to collaborate effectively within an Agile delivery team.

Key Responsibilities

Test Planning and Quality Assurance

•  Analyze business requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria to identify testing requirements and ensure adequate test coverage.

•  Develop and maintain test plans, test scenarios, test cases, test scripts, and test data.

• Apply test design principles to cover functional requirements, boundary conditions, negative scenarios, and business-critical workflows.

•   Perform functional, regression, system, integration, and end-to-end testing.

•   Identify, document, track, and retest defects, working closely with developers and business stakeholders to resolve issues.

• Report testing progress, quality risks, defect trends, and release readiness.

Test Automation and Integration Testing

•   Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test suites using Cypress, Selenium, and relevant testing frameworks.

•   Perform API and microservices integration testing, including validation of service interactions and error handling.

•  Develop automated API tests using REST Assured or equivalent tools.

•  Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Maven, and Git.

•  Investigate automated test failures and improve the reliability and maintainability of test suites.

•   Execute cross-browser tests using Browser Stack, where required.

Data and ETL Testing

•  Validate data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and integrity across source and target systems.

•  Develop SQL queries to verify data transformations, reconciliation results, and ETL processing.

•   Test data workflows involving Snowflake and associated data platforms.

•   Use Python, where appropriate, to support test data preparation and automated data validation.

Collaboration and Technical Leadership

•  Work closely with developers, business analysts, product owners, and other stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.

•  Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.

• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to QA team members.

•  Review test cases and automation code, and promote consistent testing practices.

•  Identify opportunities to improve test coverage, automation efficiency, and overall software quality.

Required Qualifications and Experience

•   Extensive hands-on experience in software quality assurance, including manual testing and test automation.

•  Proven experience testing FinTech, financial services, or regulatory workflow applications.

•  Strong understanding of test design techniques, testing methodologies, and defect management processes.

•  Practical experience developing automated tests using Cypress and/or Selenium.

•   Experience testing REST APIs and microservices-based applications.

•   Strong SQL skills and experience in data or ETL testing.

•   Working knowledge of Java and/or Python for test automation and validation.

•    Experience working within Agile software development teams.

•   Familiarity with test management and issue-tracking tools such as TestRail and Jira.

•    Experience using Git and working with build and CI/CD tools such as Maven and Jenkins.

•   Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder collaboration skills.

•   Ability to work independently, manage testing priorities, and provide technical leadership.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

•   Relevant certification in software testing or test automation.

•   Previous experience as a QA Lead or in a senior testing role with mentoring responsibilities.

•   Experience with Snowflake.

•   Foundational knowledge of AWS services and cloud-based application environments.

•  Experience with REST Assured, TestNG, Cucumber, and Browser Stack.

•   Experience testing license issuance, screening, document submission, or similar regulatory workflows.
