Commonwealth Bank of Australia is the country's largest bank, established by federal legislation in 1911 as a government-owned institution and fully privatised by 1996. It serves roughly one in three Australians across retail deposits, home lending, business banking and institutional markets, and holds the largest share of the domestic mortgage market. The bank has invested unusually heavily in technology for its size, rebuilding its core systems and pushing the CommBank application into a broader financial and lifestyle platform, and it runs the venture arm x15ventures to build and buy adjacent digital businesses.

Manager, Performance Management - IB&M Finance

Do work that matters

Institutional Banking & Markets (IB&M) supports some of Australia’s largest corporate, government and institutional clients with market-leading transaction banking, lending, capital markets and risk management solutions.

Within IB&M, Finance provides the financial control, performance analysis and strategic insight that enables informed decision-making across the business. See yourself in our team

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Performance Management, you'll deliver critical financial reporting, performance analysis and decision support to senior leaders across IB&M and Group Finance. You'll work at the centre of the business, providing insights that shape strategic decisions, support financial performance outcomes and enhance executive reporting.

This is a highly visible role offering regular exposure to senior stakeholders, leadership forums and key business performance discussions.

Your impact

You will:

  • Deliver executive performance reporting and financial insights for senior stakeholders across IB&M and Group Finance.
  • Lead the preparation of CEO briefing packs, leadership reporting and performance commentary.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, half-year and year-end reporting processes.
  • Analyse business performance, profitability and balance sheet outcomes, identifying trends, risks and opportunities.
  • Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for decision-makers.
  • Partner with stakeholders across Product Control, Business Partnering, Decision Support and the broader IB&M business.
  • Maintain a strong financial control environment, ensuring reporting accuracy, integrity and governance.
  • Drive reporting automation, process improvement and efficiency initiatives using data and analytical tools.
  • Contribute to strategic projects and deliver insights that influence business and financial outcomes.

We're interested in hearing from people who have

  • Proven experience in performance management, management reporting, commercial finance or financial analysis within a large, complex organisation.
  • Experience preparing executive, Board-level or senior leadership reporting packs and performance commentary.
  • Strong analytical and financial modelling capabilities, with advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Experience working with large datasets and reporting platforms, with exposure to tools such as Tableau, SQL or similar analytical solutions.
  • The ability to synthesise complex financial information and communicate clear, concise recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with an ability to influence and build trusted relationships across Finance and business teams.
  • Sound understanding of financial control, forecasting, profitability analysis and business performance reporting.
  • Experience within banking, institutional banking or financial services will be highly regarded.
  • A tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related discipline, coupled with CA, CPA or equivalent professional accreditation.
