Senior Automation Engineer - United States | Remote
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Automation QA Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will help ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of web-based applications through robust automation testing, API validation, and database testing. You will collaborate closely with developers, business analysts, product teams, and QA team members to deliver high-quality solutions with confidence and speed.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts using Selenium WebDriver.
- Create, execute, and optimize automated test cases for web-based applications.
- Develop and maintain regression, smoke, and end-to-end automation test suites.
- Perform API testing using tools and frameworks such as Postman, Rest Assured, Swagger, or similar solutions.
- Validate backend integrations through database testing and SQL query execution.
- Verify data integrity, backend data flows, and ETL processes across relational databases.
- Analyze requirements, user stories, and technical specifications to create effective test strategies.
- Collaborate with developers, business analysts, QA team members, and product teams to identify, reproduce, troubleshoot, and resolve defects.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous quality validation.
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily standups, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Follow testing best practices, quality standards, and defined quality metrics.
- Prepare and share test execution reports, defect metrics, and quality dashboards.
- Support production validation and release testing activities as needed.
- Contribute to improved automated test coverage, reduced regression effort, earlier defect detection, and stronger release confidence.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in automation testing, quality engineering, or a related software testing role.
- Strong experience with Selenium WebDriver and automation testing.
- Experience developing automation frameworks using Java.
- Knowledge of TestNG and/or JUnit frameworks.
- Experience with Page Object Model, POM, and automation design patterns.
- Experience using Maven and/or Gradle build tools.
- Strong understanding of RESTful APIs.
- Experience validating API requests, responses, authentication, and error handling.
- Experience with API automation frameworks and tools such as Postman, Rest Assured, Swagger, or similar.
- Strong SQL skills, including the ability to create complex queries for data validation and integrity checks.
- Experience validating data across relational databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
- Experience with Git, GitHub, and/or Azure DevOps.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps Pipelines.
- Experience with JIRA and test management tools such as Testmo, TestRail, or Azure Test Plans.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a distributed team.
- Strong attention to detail and a quality-focused mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced Agile environment.
- Relevant certifications in Automation Testing, Selenium, or Agile are preferred.
- Experience working in retail, eCommerce, healthcare, or enterprise applications is preferred.
- Knowledge of performance testing tools such as JMeter is preferred.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS is preferred.
- Understanding of BDD frameworks such as Cucumber is preferred.
- Exposure to AI-assisted testing solutions is a plus.
The base salary range for this position is $92,250 - $120,000 plus incentives that align with individual and company performance. Actual salaries will vary based on work location, qualifications, skills, education, experience, and competencies. Benefits available to eligible employees in this role include medical, dental, and vision insurance, comprehensive employee assistance program, 401(k) retirement plan, paid time off and holidays.
