It works from a network of offices across the US, including Houston, Phoenix, Austin, Dallas, Atlanta, Jacksonville, Knoxville, San Diego, Seattle and Draper, as well as Toronto in Canada. It hires bridge and roadway design engineers, traffic and transportation project managers, construction engineering and inspection engineers, drainage and water specialists, environmental GIS analysts and project accountants.

What Your Day Will Look Like:

As a Land Development Project Engineer, you will play a key role in the planning, design, and successful execution of residentialband community development projects from initial concept through final construction. Leveraging strong technical expertise and project management skills, you will lead the preparation and coordination of site civil engineering designs, including grading, drainage, stormwater management, utility infrastructure, roadways, and erosion control systems. You will collaborate closely with developers, public agencies, architects, planners, and multidisciplinary teams to navigate entitlement, permitting, and regulatory approval processes while ensuring projects meet client objectives, budget requirements, and schedule commitments.

In this role, you will balance hands-on engineering with project leadership responsibilities, managing project scopes, schedules, budgets, and consultant coordination while maintaining a high standard of technical quality. You'll contribute to client development efforts, support proposal preparation, and serve as a trusted partner throughout the project lifecycle. Additionally, you will mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers, fostering professional growth and strengthening team capabilities. This position offers the opportunity to shape growing communities through innovative, sustainable, and practical site development solutions that create lasting value for clients and the public alike.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead the planning, design, and preparation of comprehensive site development plans, including grading, stormwater management, drainage systems, utility infrastructure, roadway improvements, and erosion and sediment control measures for residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments.
  • Collaborate with clients, developers, municipalities, and regulatory agencies throughout the entitlement, permitting, and approval process, preparing supporting exhibits, technical documentation, and responses to agency review comments to facilitate project progression.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously by developing scopes of work, monitoring budgets and schedules, coordinating subconsultants, and proactively addressing project challenges to ensure successful delivery within established timelines and financial objectives.
  • Perform and oversee engineering analyses, design calculations, technical reports, construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates while ensuring compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations, standards, and client requirements.
  • Conduct detailed quality control reviews of engineering plans, calculations, and technical deliverables to ensure accuracy, constructability, consistency, and adherence to company quality standards and industry best practices.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance to junior engineers, EITs, and designers, supporting professional development, fostering collaboration across multidisciplinary teams, and promoting continuous improvement in engineering excellence and project execution.

What You'll Need:

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Construction Technology.• Professional Engineer (PE) license.• 4+ years of land development engineering experience.• Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D for design purposes.• Must have a valid TX driver's license with a good driving record.• Experience in coordinating with CAD drafting and design teams.• Deep understanding of the land development planning and entitlement processes.• Proficient with the modeling and design of pipe networks, street corridors, lot layouts, grading, drainage, and water quality.• While performing the duties of this job, physical demands of the employee include frequent sitting, moving, standing, talking, hearing, and occasional balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and feeling. This job may occasionally require operating a company vehicle, and lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 35 lbs.
