Coras is an Australian consulting and engineering firm working on defence, maritime and nuclear projects. The company is headquartered in Canberra, Australia.

At Coras, we fuse expertise with humanity, rigor with creativity and innovation with curiosity. At the core of our business is the belief that a diversity of perspectives is the key to new thinking. That’s why our team brings together deep industry experience with some of the brightest young minds in Australia. Our values are more than just words on an email signature; we’re driven by an ethos that inspires and governs everything we do.

The Role:

Based in Canberra or Adelaide, we are looking for Engineers at Consultant and Senior Consultant  levels to join our growing Nuclear capability. You’ll work alongside experienced Defence and engineering professionals supporting some of Australia’s most important and complex capability challenges.

This is an opportunity to contribute to high-assurance projects supporting Australia’s future naval nuclear capability, applying your engineering skills while developing your understanding of nuclear governance, safety and assurance principles.

You will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the delivery of engineering, advisory and assurance activities across complex Defence projects
  • Applying engineering principles to analyse problems, develop solutions and support informed decision-making
  • Contributing to technical documentation, analysis, reviews and project deliverables
  • Working collaboratively with engineers, technical specialists, Defence stakeholders and industry partners
  • Building your understanding of nuclear capability, including safety, assurance and regulatory considerations

Our Ideal Candidate:

You’re an engineer who enjoys solving complex problems and wants to contribute to nationally significant Defence capability. You bring a strong technical foundation, curiosity and a willingness to learn in a highly specialised environment.

You will bring:

  • An undergraduate degree in engineering (required)
  • Experience working in engineering roles, ideally within Defence, maritime, infrastructure or another high-assurance environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply engineering principles to complex challenges
  • Exposure to, or a genuine interest in, nuclear capability, nuclear safety, assurance or naval capability
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • A proactive mindset and willingness to learn from experienced technical specialists

Having these other abilities would also be awesome (but not mandatory):

  • Nuclear experience or qualifications, including NSQEP credentials
  • Experience supporting naval, submarine, maritime or other complex Defence programs
  • Familiarity with engineering assurance, systems engineering, safety management or regulatory environments

As we are a Defence consultancy, you must also have the ability to obtain and maintain an AGSVA security clearance.
