About the Team

The Coupang Catalog Team is responsible for hosting billions of products in Coupang's catalog and dynamically processing hundreds of millions of daily updates to provide the single source of truth that powers the online buying experience for millions of customers. We strive to deliver a world-class platform where customers find complete, accurate, and trustworthy product information without friction and at the lowest prices. To achieve this at scale, we continuously invest in cutting-edge AI architectures-leveraging modern Large Language Models (LLMs) and advanced machine learning-to ensure maximum precision, dynamic scalability, and bulletproof platform reliability.

About the Role

The  Director of Catalog Product  will leverage deep expertise in the latest LLM technologies, Generative AI, and advanced machine learning (NLP/NLU, Deep Learning, Computer Vision, Algorithmic Modeling) to pioneer next-generation e-commerce solutions. You will design, build, and scale a diverse portfolio of AI-driven products, automation tools, and catalog features that transform how product data is structured, enriched, and presented across Coupang’s vast e-commerce ecosystem.

Operating in a high-growth, rapidly evolving, and often ambiguous environment, you must thrive amidst constant change while maintaining an uncompromising bar for product quality and execution. You will navigate high degrees of operational complexity and drive strategy across international cohorts of senior stakeholders in South Korea, China, and the US (including Retail, Pricing, 3P Marketplace, Search & Discovery, and Finance).

Role Overview

• Set the vision and strategic roadmap for Coupang's Catalog platform, pioneering the application of cutting-edge LLMs and Gen AI to solve complex e-commerce challenges (e.g., catalog auto-enrichment, dynamic attribute extraction, automated taxonomy classification, seller content optimization, and fraud/quality detection).
• Lead the entire product lifecycle from conceptual AI frameworks through to production implementation in a high-velocity, continuous-deployment ecosystem.
• Navigate ambiguity with clarity and conviction, establishing structured roadmaps, making clear trade-off decisions, and maintaining a high standard of quality despite fast-moving constraints.
• Drive executive alignment across multi-regional leadership in Engineering, Data Science, Product, Operations, and Infrastructure.
• Establish metrics and build automated mechanisms to track performance, system precision, and operational efficiency across billions of catalog entities.

Basic Qualifications

• 10+ years of product management experience successfully developing and launching innovative tech products at a tier-1 technology company.
• Proven track record of applying state-of-the-art Large Language Models (LLMs), Generative AI, and ML frameworks to complex, high-scale e-commerce or consumer marketplace applications.
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in highly ambiguous, fast-paced environments, maintaining momentum and producing top-quality outputs under tight timelines and high expectations.
• End-to-end experience leading product strategy, establishing roadmaps from conception to launch, defining GTM strategies, and leading complex technical design discussions.
• Deep understanding of the modern AI/ML software stack, model evaluation frameworks, and deployment of LLMs at scale.
• Experience managing technical and design direction for complex, large-scale distributed systems.
• Hands-on mastery of agile methodologies in high-velocity environments (rapid prototyping, A/B testing, data-driven evaluation, and fast iteration).
• Expert capability in using quantitative research, data analysis, and rigorous metrics to drive product decision-making across the product lifecycle.
• Solid grasp of multi-sided e-commerce marketplace models, catalog architectures, and pricing dynamics.
• Experience collaborating with and leading cross-functional teams across multiple international geographies.
