Sr. Engineering Manager

Operational Engineering & Software Reliability

Technology Enablement is building shared engineering capabilities that improve software reliability, security, operational excellence, engineering productivity, and product delivery outcomes across a diverse portfolio of products and platforms.

We are seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to build and lead a team responsible for improving software reliability, vulnerability remediation, operational readiness, and engineering effectiveness. This leader will partner closely with Product Engineering, Platform Engineering, Cybersecurity, and Operations teams to establish scalable processes, reduce engineering friction, improve software quality, and create repeatable capabilities that can be leveraged across the enterprise.

The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering leadership with experience driving cross-functional transformation initiatives. They are proficient in modern software development practices, can build organizational capabilities from the ground up, and are passionate about improving the systems, tools, and operating models that support software delivery at scale.

This role is responsible for establishing a centralized engineering capability focused on vulnerability remediation, software health, dependency management, and engineering sustainability. The successful candidate will help advance automation, AI-assisted engineering practices, and developer productivity solutions while ensuring quality, reliability, and accountability remain core operating principles.

What You'll Do

Build and Lead a High-Performing Engineering Team

  • Recruit, coach, and develop software engineers responsible for software reliability, vulnerability remediation, software quality, and operational engineering initiatives.
  • Establish a culture of ownership, accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence.
  • Create clear goals, performance expectations, career development plans, and operating principles for the team.
  • Foster an enablement mindset focused on helping engineering teams deliver secure, reliable, and maintainable software.
  • Build organizational capabilities that can scale across multiple applications, products, and business domains.

Establish a Scalable Vulnerability Remediation Capability

  • Partner with Cybersecurity teams to translate vulnerability findings and risk insights into actionable engineering work.
  • Develop repeatable processes for intake, prioritization, remediation, validation, escalation, and reporting.
  • Create visibility into remediation progress, software health trends, dependency risks, and recurring issues.
  • Standardize how engineering teams respond to security and software health challenges across the portfolio.
  • Drive consistency in ownership, accountability, and execution of remediation activities.
  • Scale successful practices and capabilities across additional products and engineering organizations over time.

Improve Software Reliability and Quality

  • Lead initiatives that improve reliability, maintainability, operational readiness, software quality, and long-term engineering sustainability.
  • Partner with Product Engineering leaders to reduce recurring operational interruptions, technical debt, and engineering toil.
  • Support efforts related to dependency management, security remediation, modernization, software health, validation, and observability.
  • Identify common engineering challenges and develop reusable solutions, standards, automation, and tooling.
  • Establish scalable practices that improve software delivery outcomes while maintaining appropriate controls and quality standards.

Build Operational Excellence Capabilities

  • Collaborate with leaders across Technology Enablement, Product Engineering, Platform Engineering, Cybersecurity, and Operations.
  • Evaluate existing software delivery and operational processes to identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop operating models that improve consistency, efficiency, transparency, and quality outcomes.
  • Advance reliability engineering, software health management, and operational support capabilities.
  • Promote effective engineering practices that enable teams to deliver faster while maintaining security and reliability standards.

Drive Cross-Functional Discovery and Transformation

  • Lead exploratory efforts to understand challenges affecting engineering productivity, software quality, and operational performance.
  • Work with stakeholders to identify root causes, recurring patterns, organizational constraints, and process gaps.
  • Translate findings into prioritized initiatives, roadmaps, and measurable improvement plans.
  • Influence technical direction and organizational change across teams without relying solely on direct authority.
  • Establish feedback loops and measurement frameworks that support continuous improvement.

Advance Engineering Productivity and AI Readiness

  • Evaluate opportunities to improve developer productivity through automation, tooling, process simplification, and modern engineering practices.
  • Partner with technology leaders to advance responsible adoption of AI-assisted engineering solutions.
  • Help define approaches for validation, governance, and quality control of AI-enabled workflows.
  • Assess emerging technologies and practices that improve software delivery effectiveness, reliability, and engineering efficiency.
  • Promote a culture of experimentation, learning, and continuous modernization.

Measure and Communicate Impact

  • Define and monitor engineering health, reliability, quality, operational, and productivity indicators.
  • Create transparency into delivery outcomes, software health trends, remediation effectiveness, and organizational progress.
  • Use data to identify opportunities, prioritize investments, and guide decision-making.
  • Communicate recommendations, progress, risks, and outcomes to technical and executive stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate measurable business value through improved engineering effectiveness and reduced operational friction.

Priority will be given to Candidate who reside in the Columbus, OH metropolitan area.

We are unable to provide sponsorship for this role presently or in the future.
