This position will support Air Force cryptographic modernization efforts by helping identify capability gaps, assess vulnerabilities in COMSEC and cryptographic systems, and develop recommendations, requirements, and strategic plans for modernized solutions across air, ground, space, cyber, and weapons platforms. The position also supports roadmap development, architecture and requirements documentation, compliance tracking, fielding strategies, and leadership briefings related to enterprise cryptographic modernization

Responsibilities include but are not limited to

  • Participate in meetings, progress reviews, integrated teams, working groups, etc.
  • Draft, edit, and review a variety of correspondence and documentation, primarily using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Provide information management, records management, scheduling functions, and meeting/conference support.
  • Prepare briefing/training materials and present briefings/trainings.
  • Liaise and coordinate with personnel at all levels inside and outside the organization.
  • Provide awareness of new/evolving requirements and recommendations for integration.
  • Provide support for planning, programming, tracking, and financial execution.
  • Prepare information papers, point papers, background papers, and staff studies.

Task-Specific Responsibilities

  • Analyze the solutions proposed in Tasks 1 and 2 and their ability to effectively close identified capability gaps for Air & Ground systems.
  • Conduct analysis during Air Force development and implementation of the crypto solution, and provide data to the Government to verify the solution meets the needs identified in Tasks 1 and 2. The Government will actively participate in the development and implementation of data collection and evaluation methodologies, and all resulting data will be subject to Government review and independent verification to validate solution effectiveness.
  • Evaluate the solution, implementation, and transition, and report any deviations from the implementation plan that would impact the warfighter. Solutions may range from ordering and installing off-the-shelf crypto devices, to major modification R&D efforts, to designing and building a new crypto device. Evaluate selected implementations against current and potential future vulnerabilities.
  • During the algorithm transition phase, provide recommendations to CONAUTHs and system users, and periodically assess and report, in writing or verbally as requested by the Government, status toward meeting the algorithm transition deadline. Evaluate the effectiveness of the transition method and implementation.
  • Evaluate the selected algorithm-compliant High Assurance Device (HAD), manage and report on the transition of HAD hardware on the cryptonet ordering algorithm-compliant keying material, and support the cutover from the legacy ECU and keying material to the algorithm-compliant HAD and keying material.
  • Support RCMP analysis and provide advice to HQ CCC and SAF/CN by collecting and reviewing cryptographic device inputs, modifying Excel and database documentation, and reporting status to SAF.

Requirements

  • Active TS clearance with SCI/SAP eligibility.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Space COMSEC principles, encompassing the full lifecycle management of cryptographic equipment from development and fielding through sustainment.
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in cryptographic key management, including ordering, generation, distribution, and destruction, using systems such as KMI; comprehensive understanding of the strategic roles and operational responsibilities of Controlling Authorities and COMSEC account management.
  • In-depth knowledge of and experience with strategic-level NSA, DoD, and DAF security policies and procedures related to cryptographic and keying material, including classification guides for cryptographic algorithms, equipment, and COMSEC keying material.
  • Minimum of 2 years of advanced staff experience planning, organizing, and negotiating effectively with cross-functional teams using TMT or other staff coordination standards, document reviews, program updates, and background papers to drive adoption of critical recommendations.
