Crusoe is an energy and cloud company founded in 2018 that builds data centres next to stranded and low-carbon power sources. It started by converting flared natural gas into computing capacity and has become a large supplier of graphics processing capacity for artificial intelligence training and inference. The company develops sites, energy systems and its own managed AI cloud.

Crusoe is on a mission to accelerate the abundance of energy and intelligence. As the only vertically integrated AI infrastructure company built from the ground up, we own and operate each layer of the stack - from electrons to tokens - to power the world's most ambitious AI workloads. When you join Crusoe, you join a team that is building the future, faster.

We're in the midst of the greatest industrial revolution of our time. The demand for AI compute is boundless, and power is a bottleneck. We're solving that - with an energy-first approach that makes AI infrastructure better for the world and faster for the people innovating with AI.

We're looking for problem-solving, opportunity-finding teammates with a sense of urgency, who believe in the scale of our ambition and thrive on a path not fully paved - people who want to grow their careers alongside a team of experts across energy, manufacturing, data center construction, and cloud services.

If you want to do the most meaningful work of your career, help our customers and partners advance their AI strategies, and be part of a high-performing team that believes in each other, come build with us at Crusoe.

About This Role

As an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer II supporting Crusoe's modular data center platform, you will help build the control system that ships inside every module we manufacture. Modular is how Crusoe compresses the timeline from steel to compute, and that speed only holds if the controls package is repeatable, verified in the factory, and correct the first time it lands in the field. You will work alongside senior I&C engineers to develop the point lists, instrument schedules, and control system drawings that define the platform, then prove that work out on the factory floor through factory acceptance testing before a module ever leaves the building.

This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who wants to build depth in industrial controls inside a manufacturing environment rather than one-off site design. You will move between the design desk and the factory, translating standards into deliverables and then validating those deliverables against real hardware. Expect close mentorship from experienced engineers, clear ownership of your assigned deliverables, and increasing independence as your judgment develops. Denver is your home base, with estimated travel at 25% to manufacturing partners and deployment sites. This is a full-time position.

What You'll Be Working On

  • Design Deliverable Development: Develop point lists, instrument schedules, I/O assignments, and control system drawings for modular data center systems under the direction of senior I&C engineers.

  • Factory Acceptance Testing: Execute and document FAT protocols on control panels and integrated modules, including point-to-point verification, loop checks, and calibration confirmation prior to shipment.

  • Manufacturing Support: Partner with manufacturing on the factory floor to resolve control panel build issues, wiring discrepancies, and instrument installation questions as modules move through production.

  • Platform Standardization: Contribute to the repeatable design packages, drawing templates, and test procedures that let the modular platform scale across successive builds without rework.

  • Vendor and Integrator Coordination: Support technical coordination with control panel fabricators, systems integrators, and instrument suppliers on submittals, specification compliance, and open technical items.

  • Field Verification and Startup Support: Conduct field walks, equipment inspections, and basic calibration verification at manufacturing and deployment sites to confirm as-built accuracy and commissioning readiness.

  • Documentation Integrity: Maintain accurate as-built drawings, test records, and instrument documentation so downstream construction, commissioning, and operations teams work from a reliable source of truth.

What You'll Bring to the Team

  • Instrumentation & Controls Foundation: 2 to 4 years of professional experience in industrial instrumentation and controls, including exposure to point list development, control system drawings, and field instrumentation.

  • PLC Proficiency: Working familiarity with Rockwell and Allen-Bradley platforms, including Studio 5000 and ControlLogix or CompactLogix hardware.

  • SCADA Exposure: Hands-on experience with Ignition SCADA or a comparable platform, including tag configuration, screen navigation, and basic troubleshooting.

  • Testing and Verification Discipline: Demonstrated ability to execute structured test procedures, document results accurately, and identify discrepancies before they propagate into downstream deliverables.

  • Field and Factory Readiness: Comfort working in active manufacturing and construction environments, including field walks, panel inspections, and instrument verification alongside technicians and trades.

  • Collaborative Judgment: A track record of applying established engineering standards independently while escalating technical ambiguity to more experienced engineers early and clearly.

  • Mandatory Education: A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Control Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

Bonus Points

  • Data Center or Mission-Critical Experience: Prior work on data center mechanical or electrical control systems, or in another high-availability industrial environment.

  • Modular or Prefabricated Delivery: Experience supporting a productized or prefabricated equipment platform where design repeatability and factory verification drive schedule.

  • Protocol Depth: Practical familiarity with Modbus TCP, BACnet, or OPC UA in a multi-vendor integration context.

  • Industry Certifications: Relevant credentials such as network certifications, Rockwell or Inductive Automation certifications.

  • OT Cybersecurity Awareness: Understanding of industrial network segmentation and OT security practices as applied to control system deployments.

  • Mission Alignment: A genuine interest in energy and AI infrastructure, and in the engineering rigor required to build it at speed.
