If you are an undergraduate student looking to jump-start your career in data, software and cloud engineering, we are offering a 13-month internship based at our Perth Airport office. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with industrial data generated by world leading carbon reduction technology applied to large mining equipment - all the while collaborating with experienced engineers across software development, cloud infrastructure, edge computing and analytics.

You will contribute to the development and improvement of our data platform for industrial hybrid systems and help create data products that deliver insights from real-world vehicle telemetry. Commencing 27 January 2027, this internship provides exposure to modern engineering practices and technologies used to solve complex challenges in the mining and technology sectors.

In this role you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Develop and test software solutions using languages such as Python and C#.
  • Work with AWS cloud services and infrastructure-as-code tools including Terraform.
  • Assist in building and maintaining data pipelines that process and analyse vehicle telemetry.
  • Analyse and validate telemetry data to identify quality issues and support engineering investigations.
  • Develop internal tools, automation solutions and data visualisations.
  • Write automated tests and contribute to software quality initiatives and code reviews.
  • Assist with troubleshooting, monitoring and continuous improvement of edge and cloud platform components.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and engineering guides.
  • Prototype innovative approaches to processing, analysing and presenting telemetry data.
  • Collaborate with experienced engineers and participate in agile development and engineering activities.

About You:

To qualify for this undergraduate internship, it is essential that you:

  • Are currently studying a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Computer Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Have between 1 and 8 units of study left to complete in your undergraduate degree as of January 2027

  • Are available for the full 13 months and are willing to defer your studies for that duration.

Note: Applicants that do not meet these qualifying requirements unfortunately will not be considered.

To be successful in this role, you will possess the following skills/or be able to perform:

  • Exposure to programming languages such as Python, C#, Java or similar.
  • An interest in cloud platforms, data engineering and software development.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Curiosity and enthusiasm for working with data and technology.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • A willingness to learn new tools, technologies and engineering practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.

This is a 13-month, full time or part time, paid placement and the successful candidate will be required to defer their studies for the duration of the program.
