Cummins is an American multinational manufacturer headquartered in Columbus, Indiana, that designs, builds, distributes and services diesel and natural gas engines, power generation systems, filtration, aftertreatment and electrified powertrain components. Founded in 1919 and listed on the New York Stock Exchange, it runs plants, technical centres and service networks across North America, the United Kingdom, India, Mexico, Australia, South Africa and other markets. Its hiring spans field service and diesel technicians, manufacturing and controls engineers, aftertreatment engineering placement students, supply chain coordinators, finance, HR and AI and cloud engineers.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Promote a safe work environment by following HSE policies and procedures, using proper personal protective equipment, identifying and reporting hazards, and taking immediate action to prevent injuries and unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain high-quality standards by following technical diagrams, operating manuals, and specifications, conducting quality inspections, and ensuring all work meets established workmanship and performance requirements.
  • Improve equipment reliability by performing and documenting preventive, corrective, predictive, and emergency maintenance while supporting equipment failure analysis and identifying opportunities to prevent recurring issues.
  • Lead and support team members by serving as a knowledgeable resource, coordinating activities, sharing technical expertise, and helping less experienced employees develop their skills and capabilities.
  • Drive continuous improvement by collaborating with peers and support teams to identify manufacturing constraints, resolve problems, improve processes, and reduce costs, waste, and quality risks.
  • Strengthen teamwork and communication by sharing information effectively, providing feedback to maintenance and quality systems, and actively participating in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiatives that improve safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Adapt to changing business needs by maintaining an organized work environment, completing required training and professional development, updating process documentation, and proactively implementing solutions that support manufacturing objectives.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Collaborate effectively by building strong partnerships with team members and support departments to achieve shared manufacturing, maintenance, safety, and quality goals.
  • Communicate clearly by sharing technical information, explaining issues, providing feedback, and adapting communication to ensure everyone understands expectations, procedures, and solutions.
  • Maintain a customer-focused mindset by understanding internal and external customer needs and delivering reliable, high-quality work that supports production requirements and customer satisfaction.
  • Make sound decisions by evaluating equipment issues, identifying potential risks, analyzing available information, and taking timely action to resolve problems while prioritizing safety and quality.
  • Demonstrate self-awareness by recognizing personal strengths and development opportunities, seeking feedback, and using reflection to improve technical skills, teamwork, and overall job performance.
  • Drive results and accountability by completing maintenance tasks efficiently, meeting production deadlines, following established procedures, and taking ownership of commitments, work quality, and corrective actions.
  • Manage complexity and embrace learning by troubleshooting challenging equipment issues, adapting to changing manufacturing demands, learning from successes and failures, and applying new knowledge to improve processes and equipment reliability.
  • Prioritize safety and manufacturing excellence by recognizing electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic hazards; following proper safety controls; understanding manufacturing processes and equipment; supporting continuous improvement; and valuing diverse perspectives to create a safe, productive, and inclusive workplace.
