Backend Engineer - Treasury Tech

As a valued member of our team, you will work closely with multiple business teams to research various data needs, design, maintain, and develop robust libraries as well as the application that could act the as the central storage for various firmwide portfolio data sets (Trades, Positions, PnL and friends) for various business application use cases within DESCO. You will handle big data optimisation, design scalable libraries, and ensure quality. You will also handle project execution in an agile environment, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and gain exposure to the business and technology in a leading financial firm. Finally, you will also be responsible for people and project management as a key part of the job role.

Requirements:

• A bachelor's degree or master's degree in computer science or equivalent practical experience.
• 7 - 10 years of relevant experience in core software development, with strong coding and debugging abilities, and an interest towards big data.
• Proficiency in Python or similar programming languages.
• Understanding of software development principles, quantitative abilities, data structures, problem-solving and knowledge of design patterns and robust analytical skills, with an ability to work in an agile environment.
• The candidate should possess strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills along with effective written and verbal communication abilities.
• The candidate should be capable of independent project execution, including the ability to translate complex data into understandable results.
• Ability to operate with focus, discipline, and minimal supervision, along with attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams.
• At least 1 year of people and team management experience, having led a team of at least 2 members.
• Familiarity with financial markets will be an added advantage.
