Overview

We own our core technology end to end, with code and architecture that has scaled well with us. That's our edge, and it's why this role matters. We're looking for a Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to be accountable for the technology capabilities that will drive our success in the following areas:

• Technology strategy

• Engineering capability and execution

• Platform reliability and resilience

• Technology risk and security

• Technology enabled competitive advantage.

Dabble's 5-year strategic plan is built on three pillars, all of which rely on technology capabilities you will lead.

• Our Engine (6-star customer experience, intentional investment, built to scale),

• Our Edge (owning social betting, Dabble as a game, delivering win-big moments), and

• Our Evolution (iGaming our way, expanding our model globally, and being public market ready).

This role is the custodian of technology capabilities that underpin Dabble's competitive advantage. You'll sit on our Executive Leadership Team, partner directly with our CEO and Board, and balance long-term architecture with the pragmatism to move fast without breaking what punters rely on.

Primary Location

This role is currently open to all locations within Australia, however candidates based in Melbourne or Brisbane may be preferred.

Responsibilities

Technology Strategy & Risk

• Own and evolve Dabble's long-term technology strategy, with clear success measures the whole business can support

• Ensure Dabble continues to improve the value generated from our technology investments including technology team productivity, infrastructure and third-party services

• Identify and lead technology initiatives that create new sources of competitive advantage

• Oversee enterprise technology risk, cybersecurity and technology compliance, ensuring appropriate controls are embedded in operations and that Dabble maintains strong cyber resilience, disaster recovery, third-party risk management and regulatory compliance

Data Governance & Strategy

• Ensure data governance and strategy supports company objectives

• Build the frameworks and standards that ensure data is collected, stored and used responsibly across the business

• Ensure Dabble's data foundations enable high-quality analytics, AI and ML capabilities that generate business value

Engineering & Platform Leadership

• Evolve our engineering function to support Dabble's growth, ensuring we have the operating model and organisational design to effectively deliver against strategic objectives

• Oversee an engineering culture rooted in ownership, accountability and continuous improvement

• Ensure our platforms are highly available, scalable and resilient

Commercial & Executive Leadership

• Operate as a trusted member of the Executive Leadership Team, shaping business-wide decisions

• Provide the Board with clear visibility of technology performance, investment, risk, resilience and strategic capability

• Ensure technology teams are closely aligned with Product leadership to shape the roadmap

• Build the vendor and partner relationships that maximise long-term value from our technology investments

Skills & Qualifications

• Extensive technology leadership experience in a high growth digital business that owns and runs its own platform and technology

• Proven success scaling technology organisations through rapid growth, ideally across both smaller and larger business contexts

• Experience operating in regulated, high-volume B2C environments such as wagering, fintech, marketplace, iGaming/Casino, media, or similar, including comfort with the commercial and regulatory complexity that comes with global scale

• Experience establishing effective data governance and technology foundations that enable analytics, AI and machine learning at scale

• Deep understanding of architecture and software engineering, with proven leadership in high-growth, cloud-native environments

• Strong understanding of cybersecurity, platform reliability and modern software delivery practices

• Sharp commercial acumen, notably the ability to connect technology decisions to business outcomes and justify them at Board level

• A decisive, trusted operator who can make complex decisions without all the information, and hold the line on governance when it counts

• Demonstrated experience identifying and delivering commercially valuable applications of AI (desired)

Remuneration

The advertised salary for this position is $350,000 + Super + STIP + Benefits with room to be flexible.
