Danfoss is a Danish engineering group headquartered in Nordborg that makes mechanical and electronic components for climate solutions, power solutions and drives, including valves, compressors, heat exchangers, hydraulics and frequency converters. Founded in 1933 by Mads Clausen and still family-owned, it runs factories and engineering sites across Europe, the Americas and Asia, with large teams in Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Mexico, India, China and Slovenia. Its careers board lists quality, test and application engineers, production operators and assemblers, project and sales engineers, and student workers.

The Impact You'll Make

Join us in shaping the next generation of power conversion solutions. As a Senior Development Engineer, Magnetics & Filters, you will develop the magnetic and filter technologies that enable efficient, reliable, and high-performance power conversion systems supporting the global energy transition.

Based in Vaasa or Tampere, Finland, with a hybrid work model, you will help create advanced solutions for applications such as energy storage, renewable energy integration, data centers, EV charging infrastructure, marine electrification, industrial power systems, and microgrids.

Collaborating with experts in power electronics, electronics, software, mechanics, testing, manufacturing, and sourcing, you will turn system-level requirements into innovative magnetic component and filter solutions for next-generation power conversion products.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead the development of magnetic components and filter technologies that improve the performance, efficiency, and reliability of advanced power conversion products and systems.
  • Design and optimize inductors, reactors, common-mode chokes, EMC filters, LCL filters, sine-wave filters, dU/dt filters, and other passive components for power electronic systems.
  • Select and specify magnetic materials, core technologies, winding concepts, insulation systems, and component architectures in collaboration with suppliers and technology partners.
  • Analyze, simulate, test, and validate electromagnetic, thermal, electrical, and mechanical performance to optimize efficiency, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Collaborate across disciplines including system engineering, power electronics, mechanical design, EMC, manufacturing, and sourcing, bringing deep expertise in magnetic component technologies to product development.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong expertise in magnetic component design, including inductors, transformers, reactors, common-mode chokes, and EMC filter technologies.
  • Experience developing high-power magnetic components and filter solutions for power conversion applications such as industrial drives, converters, renewable energy, energy storage, or EV charging.
  • Knowledge of magnetic materials and technologies, such as ferrite, nanocrystalline materials, powdered iron, laminated steel, or other core materials used in high-performance power electronics.
  • Hands-on experience with relevant simulation and modeling tools, such as ANSYS Maxwell, ANSYS Electronics Desktop, COMSOL, PLECS, LTspice, MATLAB/Simulink, JMAG, Flux, or comparable platforms.
  • Ability to solve complex engineering challenges involving EMC, efficiency, thermal performance, insulation coordination, reliability, cost, and industrialization while working collaboratively in an international environment.

What You'll Get from Us

At Danfoss, you will contribute to technologies that advance electrification and accelerate the transition toward more sustainable energy systems.

You will collaborate with experienced specialists across power electronics, magnetic component technologies, energy storage, renewable energy integration, grid infrastructure, and industrial electrification. You will have opportunities to deepen your expertise in magnetic design, EMC technologies, advanced materials, component modeling, and next-generation power conversion platforms.

Knowledge sharing, innovation, and continuous learning are part of how we work. You will have the opportunity to influence future technologies while growing your expertise alongside colleagues across disciplines and locations.

This position can be based in Vaasa or Tampere, Finland, with a hybrid work model that supports both flexibility and close collaboration.
