As our Senior Engineer, Backend, you’ll play a central technical role in building and evolving the services that power digital and IoT solutions across Danfoss Climate Solutions. You’ll help shape technical direction, drive engineering standards and turn industrial data into reliable, scalable and valuable digital products for our customers.
Working within our Digital Application Solutions team, you’ll combine deep hands-on backend engineering expertise with a product-focused mindset and strong technical ownership. You’ll own critical capabilities from architecture and service design through testing, delivery and production, while guiding technical decisions, supporting other engineers and continuously raising the quality, scalability and reliability of our solutions.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Take end-to-end technical ownership of backend capabilities for industrial IoT solutions, from architecture and design through implementation, deployment and production
- Design, build and evolve scalable backend services using Go, MQTT, Kafka and modern distributed-system patterns
- Drive architectural and technical decisions, balancing scalability, reliability, maintainability and business needs
- Translate complex product and customer requirements into pragmatic technical solutions, collaborating across engineering teams and service boundaries
- Set and promote strong engineering practices across code quality, automated testing, secure development, observability and CI/CD
- Provide technical guidance to other engineers through design discussions, code reviews and knowledge sharing, while continuously improving the performance and resilience of our backend services
What We're Looking For
- Strong hands-on experience developing and owning production software in Go within complex, real-world environments
- Deep understanding of distributed backend and IoT architectures, including MQTT; experience with Kafka and Sparkplug B is considered an advantage
- Proven experience making architectural and technical design decisions for scalable, reliable production systems
- Strong experience with automated testing, CI/CD and containerized environments using technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Strong problem-solving and ownership mindset, with the ability to lead complex technical challenges from design through deployment and production
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience guiding other engineers and influencing technical decisions across engineering and product teams

Compensation & benefits
- Permanent Contract
- Collective Labour Agreement (CCNL): Metalmeccanica Industria (CNEL Code C011)
- Annual Gross Salary Range: €50.000 - €60.000
- Bonus system: variable component expressed as a percentage of annual gross salary, linked to company performance.
- Salary review: conducted annually, based on individual merit and overall company performance.
