The Senior Engineer, Heat Transfer is a technical expert role within the Heat Transfer & Fluid Mechanics Team, focused on applied research and technology development for plate heat exchangers (PHEX) and advanced heat-transfer solutions.

The role drives technology projects that create future product and business opportunities by exploring, developing, and validating innovative heat-transfer technologies. Activities span customer and market-driven technology scouting, concept development, modeling and simulation, digital tool development, experimental investigation, and technical validation of new solutions.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead and coordinate heat-transfer technology development projects, defining technical scope, work packages, milestones, resources, risks, and deliverables to support future product and technology roadmaps.
• Develop and advance plate heat exchanger (PHEX) technologies, including new geometries, design methodologies, and performance concepts for single-phase and two-phase flow and heat-transfer applications.
• Build, validate, and continuously improve physics-based models, simulation methodologies, engineering correlations, data-processing techniques, and digital tools for predicting and optimizing PHEX and system performance.
• Maintain strong hands-on engagement with laboratory activities, including daily interaction with heat exchanger testing programs, test planning, test execution, data acquisition, troubleshooting, results interpretation, and continuous improvement of test methods and capabilities.
• Plan and execute experimental investigations and technology validation activities, including laboratory testing, calculation, simulation, data analysis, regression studies, and technical reporting to support innovation and technology development.
• Support New Product Development (NPD) projects by providing expert guidance on heat transfer, fluid flow, pressure drop, thermal performance, and application-related technical challenges.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Sales, Applications Engineering, and customers to understand market needs and customer pain points, translate them into technical requirements, and develop validated technical solutions.
• Generate innovative concepts and transform them into feasible, scalable, and commercially relevant technologies through proof-of-concept development, experimental validation, and technology maturation.
• Develop engineering methodologies, software tools, and digital capabilities that enhance the prediction, design, optimization, and selection of plate heat exchangers.
• Monitor and assess emerging technologies, patents, academic research, competitive solutions, and market trends to identify innovation opportunities and strengthen technical capabilities.
• Contribute to technology roadmaps, build internal technical expertise, and influence the future direction of single-phase and two-phase heat-transfer technologies through technical leadership and cross-functional collaboration.

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of relevant experience in heat exchangers, thermal systems or heat-transfer technology development, with demonstrated ownership of technical projects.
• Strong knowledge of both single-phase and two-phase flow and heat transfer, including boiling, condensation, pressure drop, heat-exchanger thermal-hydraulic performance, and system-level thermal behavior.
• Proven experience in heat-transfer technology development, including modeling, simulation, experimental validation, performance analysis, and engineering methodology development.
• Proficiency in engineering modeling and digital development tools, such as system-level simulation tools, Python, MATLAB, Modelica, automated data-processing workflows, optimization methods, or equivalent software platforms. Basic experience with CFD is a plus.
• Good understanding of refrigeration systems and components, including evaporators, condensers, refrigerants, system performance, and application requirements across cooling and heating solutions.
• Knowledge of thermal management and cooling technologies for data center applications, including liquid cooling, heat-recovery solutions, and high-efficiency thermal systems, is highly desirable.
• Hands-on experience with laboratory testing, test-method development, instrumentation, data analysis and heat-exchanger performance evaluation.
• Strong customer and market orientation, with the ability to identify customer pain points and translate them into practical, validated technical solutions.
• Strong innovation mindset, technical curiosity, and technology insight, with the ability to assess industry trends and transform concepts into feasible, scalable, and commercially relevant solutions.
• Excellent written and spoken English for global technical collaboration, documentation and presentation; willingness and ability to work effectively in an international environment.
