We are seeking a sharp, articulate USMC Product Trainer to lead user training for a mission-critical technical product supporting Marine Corps users. This individual will serve as a credible link between the product team and the operating forces, translating technical capabilities into clear, practical, mission-focused instruction for Marines and other stakeholders.

The ideal candidate is a former Marine leader and experienced instructor who is comfortable teaching in classrooms, secure facilities, and operational environments. This role requires frequent travel (~1 week a month) to all major USMC command regions, strong presence in front of diverse audiences, and the ability to rapidly become a trusted product subject-matter expert.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Lead the planning, development, coordination, and delivery of user training for Marine Corps personnel and other authorized users.
  • Develop and maintain instructor-led courses, practical exercises, demonstrations, quick-reference guides, student materials, and other training products.
  • Translate complex product capabilities, technical concepts, and workflows into clear instruction tailored to operational users.
  • Deliver engaging classroom, hands-on, virtual, and field-based training to audiences with varying levels of technical experience.
  • Conduct training needs assessments and tailor instruction to unit missions, user roles, operational scenarios, and learning objectives.
  • Coordinate training schedules, site requirements, equipment, access, and other logistics with customer and program stakeholders.
  • Serve as a product subject-matter expert during demonstrations, exercises, user events, and operational engagements.
  • Evaluate student performance and training effectiveness through practical exercises, knowledge checks, surveys, and direct observation.
  • Capture user feedback, lessons learned and recurring issues, and communicate actionable recommendations to product, engineering, and program teams.
  • Maintain current knowledge of product releases and update training content as capabilities, interfaces, and procedures evolve.
  • Support train-the-trainer activities and help establish repeatable, scalable training standards and certification processes.
  • Represent Data Machines and the customer professionally while working independently at locations across the United States and, when required, overseas.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Prior service in the United States Marine Corps as an NCO, SNCO, warrant officer, or officer at the Captain or Major level, or equivalent experience demonstrating comparable Marine Corps operational leadership.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Demonstrated experience instructing, briefing, coaching, or facilitating training for military personnel or other adult learners.
  • Strong platform presence and the ability to communicate clearly and confidently with junior Marines, senior leaders, technical personnel, and customer stakeholders.
  • Ability to rapidly learn a technical product and explain its features, workflows, and operational value in plain language.
  • Knowledge of Marine Corps culture, organization, terminology, training practices, and operational environments.
  • Ability to develop organized, accurate, and audience-appropriate training materials and instructional content.
  • Strong written communication, public speaking, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Sound judgment, professionalism, adaptability, and the ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively, including to military installations, training sites, exercises, and other customer locations.
  • Ability to work on-site in Reston, VA when not supporting travel requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience as a, Combat Instructor, Military Occupational Specialty instructor, or instructor at The Basic School.
  • Prior service as a Marine Corps SNCO, warrant officer, or company-grade or field-grade officer with recent operational or training experience.
  • Active Top Secret, or TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Formal instructor, curriculum-development, or train-the-trainer certification from the Marine Corps, another military service, or a recognized professional organization.
  • Experience developing programs of instruction, lesson plans, student guides, practical exercises, evaluation criteria, or other military training products.
  • Experience training operational units on software, command-and-control systems, mission-planning tools, data platforms, or other technical capabilities such as communications, cyber or information warfare.
  • Experience supporting Marine Corps exercises, experimentation, fielding, new-equipment training, or operational test events.
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles, instructional systems design, and methods for evaluating training effectiveness.
  • Experience briefing senior military leaders and working directly with government program offices, operational commands, and technical teams.
  • Experience traveling independently in support of distributed military users, including CONUS and OCONUS locations.
