Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Corporate Accounting team and support a combination of accounting operations, process improvement, and finance transformation initiatives.
Our accounting organization operates across multiple global entities, with processes and close activities that have evolved independently over time. This role will work closely with accounting teams to help improve consistency, efficiency, and visibility across these activities, including supporting enhancements to our global close calendar and related processes.
This is a highly visible, hands-on role for someone who is comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment with significant complexity and multiple workstreams occurring simultaneously. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, be comfortable working through detailed accounting activities, and have an interest in identifying opportunities to simplify manual processes, improve controls, and create more scalable ways of working.
In the near term, this individual will also play an important role in our transition from Oracle to Workday Financials, supporting Q4 testing, process validation, issue resolution, and accounting readiness ahead of go-live.
Over time, the role will continue to support monthly and quarterly accounting activities while partnering with the broader team on process improvements, automation opportunities, and initiatives designed to make the accounting organization more efficient and scalable.
Key Responsibilities
Support monthly and quarterly close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statement review, flux analysis, and other general ledger activities as needed.
Support the ongoing development and improvement of the Company's global accounting close calendar, helping coordinate activities, dependencies, and deadlines across accounting teams and entities.
Review existing accounting and close processes to identify opportunities for greater consistency, efficiency, and simplification.
Partner with accounting teams across entities and geographies to improve visibility into close status, outstanding activities, dependencies, and potential bottlenecks.
Assist with the development and monitoring of close metrics, including timeliness, outstanding activities, reconciliation status, recurring bottlenecks, and post-close adjustments.
Develop and maintain accounting process documentation, including close procedures, process flows, ownership matrices, and accounting policies.
Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Payroll, Procurement, Tax, Treasury, and other teams where processes intersect with accounting and financial reporting.
Execute and coordinate accounting-related testing in Workday, including end-to-end process testing, validation of accounting results, identification of defects, and confirmation that key accounting processes operate as designed.
Evaluate existing Oracle processes as part of the Workday implementation and identify opportunities to simplify, automate, or redesign processes rather than simply replicating current-state workflows.
Partner with implementation teams and accounting stakeholders to resolve testing issues and ensure accounting requirements are appropriately reflected in the new ERP environment.
Support post-go-live stabilization and continue identifying opportunities to leverage Workday functionality to improve accounting efficiency, controls, and reporting.
Participate in broader accounting process improvement and finance transformation initiatives as the organization continues to scale.
Help promote greater consistency and standardization across accounting processes while balancing local entity and business requirements.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and month-end close processes.
Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment with multiple moving parts and competing priorities.
Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders and workstreams.
Experience developing close calendars, coordinating cross-functional close activities, or driving close acceleration initiatives.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an interest in process improvement, automation, and accounting transformation.
Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large and complex data sets.
Experience with Workday Financials.
Combination of Big 4 public accounting experience and industry accounting experience strongly preferred.
CPA or equivalent professional accounting qualification preferred.
Experience participating in an ERP implementation, finance transformation, or significant accounting process improvement initiative strongly preferred.
Experience with Oracle ERP or similar enterprise financial systems preferred.
