The Configuration & Release Manager analyzes release impacts and maintains source and version descriptions, known-defect lists, bills of materials, build and deployment documentation, release packages, and configuration summaries. The position coordinates approvals, release readiness, implementation, validation, and operational handover across Government stakeholders, software teams, testers, cybersecurity personnel, infrastructure teams, and operations.

This position is remote, with Chicago-area candidates preferred.

Note: By applying to this position, you acknowledge and consent to having your resume included in an active competitive government contract bid.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Configuration & Release Manager will:

  • Establish, maintain, and govern configuration-management and release-management processes for the ENLIST software portfolio.
  • Define and maintain approved configuration baselines for applications, services, interfaces, infrastructure components, documentation, and supporting artifacts.
  • Identify configuration items and maintain accurate version, ownership, relationship, dependency, and status information.
  • Maintain configuration records and reconcile approved configuration items with the configuration management database (CMDB).
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies among source repositories, deployment environments, release records, inventories, and CMDB data.
  • Prepare configuration summaries and provide accurate baseline status for program reporting, audits, release reviews, and operational support.
  • Maintain change records and ensure approved changes are traceable from request and authorization through implementation and validation.
  • Coordinate configuration-control and change-control activities with Government representatives and program governance bodies.
  • Support change-control board reviews by preparing impact assessments, dependency information, implementation plans, rollback plans, and decision materials.
  • Analyze proposed releases for technical, operational, security, interface, data, training, documentation, and scheduling impacts.
  • Develop and maintain integrated release plans, schedules, readiness criteria, dependencies, approval points, and implementation milestones.
  • Coordinate release activities across development, testing, cybersecurity, infrastructure, database, cloud, network, training, service management, and operations teams.
  • Maintain source and version descriptions identifying included components, changes, dependencies, limitations, and installation considerations.
  • Prepare and maintain known-defect lists, including workarounds, affected capabilities, severity, disposition, and planned corrections.
  • Develop and maintain bills of materials identifying application components, libraries, dependencies, packages, and related release content.
  • Coordinate software bills of materials when required by program cybersecurity or software supply-chain processes.
  • Maintain build instructions, installation procedures, deployment instructions, configuration guidance, validation steps, and rollback procedures.
  • Assemble complete release packages containing approved software, scripts, configurations, documentation, test results, security evidence, and authorization records.
  • Verify that release artifacts are complete, versioned, approved, reproducible, and traceable to the correct source and baseline.
  • Coordinate release-readiness reviews and confirm satisfaction of testing, cybersecurity, documentation, training, operational, and approval criteria.
  • Coordinate release approvals with authorized Government and program stakeholders.
  • Support deployment scheduling, implementation coordination, status communication, issue escalation, and post-deployment validation.
  • Coordinate rollback or recovery activities when release acceptance criteria are not met.
  • Manage operational handover and ensure support teams receive required procedures, configuration information, known issues, contacts, and troubleshooting guidance.
  • Confirm that implemented releases and resulting configuration changes are accurately reflected in the CMDB and supporting records.
  • Track release metrics, configuration discrepancies, unauthorized changes, failed changes, rollback activity, known defects, and improvement actions.
  • Support audits, assessments, inspections, and reviews by producing traceable configuration and release evidence.
  • Participate in sprint planning, release planning, demonstrations, retrospectives, and program-governance activities.
  • Promote continuous improvement of configuration control, release quality, CMDB accuracy, documentation, and operational transition.
