SEO Manager

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities

· Lead SEO strategy and execution for client accounts across domestic China and international markets

· Develop SEO roadmaps covering technical SEO, on-page optimization, content strategy, and authority building

· Drive organic performance across Baidu, Google, and Bing, adapting strategies to different platforms and markets

· Apply AI-driven SEO approaches to improve keyword research, content planning, optimization, and performance analysis

· Use AI tools to support scalable SEO workflows (e.g., content briefs, gap analysis, SERP insights, reporting automation)

· Partner with content, UX, and development teams to embed SEO best practices into website builds, migrations, and ongoing optimization

· Manage technical SEO initiatives, including crawlability, indexation, site architecture, page performance, mobile optimization, and structured data

· Monitor and analyze SEO performance (traffic, rankings, conversions), translating data into actionable insights for clients

· Prepare and present clear SEO reports, insights, and recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders

· Stay current with algorithm updates, AI-driven search developments (e.g., generative search, AI overviews), and regulatory considerations in China and globally

· Support new business pitches and contribute to SEO thought leadership within Merkle China

· Mentor junior team members and contribute to team capability building (scope dependent on level)

Requirements

· Associate Manager: ~3-4 years of SEO experience

· Manager: 5+ years of SEO experience

· Hands-on experience with Baidu, Google, and Bing SEO

· Experience supporting or leading international SEO programs

· Strong understanding of technical SEO fundamentals

· Familiarity with AI tools and workflows for SEO or digital marketing (e.g., content generation, analysis, automation)

· Experience with SEO and analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Baidu Webmaster Tools, Screaming Frog, SEMRush, Ahrefs, etc.)

· Data-driven mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills

· Client-facing experience with good communication and presentation skills

· Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced agency environment

· Fluent in Mandarin; strong working proficiency in English
