At Derivco, we build the technology behind world-class online gaming experiences, running 24/7 in some of the most tightly regulated markets in the world. As a Developer Level 2, you'll own features end-to-end, from technical design to deployment and post-release stability, using modern CI/CD, automated testing and AI-assisted development tools to deliver well-architected software our operator partners rely on.
What you'll do
- Own features end-to-end- design, build, test, deploy and support software features independently, meeting product requirements and our engineering standards.
- Own the quality of your work- write unit and integration tests, do exploratory testing, and monitor behaviour after deployment so what reaches production is robust and stable.
- Build with AI, critically- use AI-assisted development tools to speed up delivery and improve code quality, while checking every generated line for correctness, security and compliance.
- Code securely and compliantly- apply secure coding practices, handle sensitive data appropriately and design with iGaming regulatory obligations in mind.
- Solve real production problems- investigate and fix defects, performance issues and system anomalies within agreed timelines, and help prevent them from coming back.
- Shape the plan- contribute technical input to planning, estimation and backlog refinement, flagging dependencies and validating feasibility so team commitments are realistic.
- Review and grow others- review your peers' code with empathy and constructive feedback, including AI-generated solutions, and support junior developers as they learn.
- Share what you learn- document technical learnings, design decisions, AI solution rationale and prompt strategies to build the team's shared knowledge.
- Grow your architecture thinking- deepen your understanding of service design (RESTful APIs and event-driven/asynchronous messaging), distributed systems and the trade-offs between scalability, compliance and delivery speed.
- Be part of a 24/7 operation- build your knowledge of cloud platforms, monitoring, incident response and production support, including after-hours availability where required.
What you'll bring
- A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent).
- 2-4 years' progressive experience in software development.
- Strong proficiency in your team's primary programming language and frameworks, with a track record of delivering features independently from design through to deployment.
- Solid, hands-on experience with Git, debugging, unit and integration testing, code review, CI/CD pipelines, RESTful APIs and relational databases.
- Incident response experience and a practical, methodical approach to troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of AI-assisted development tools (code generation, debugging assistance) and the judgement to evaluate their output before it goes anywhere near production.
- Experience with agile/Scrum, continuous delivery and automated testing frameworks, ideally on complex, multi-component features in distributed teams.
- Awareness of secure coding, performance analysis and technical design, and an appetite to grow in each.
- An understanding of, or real interest in, working within regulatory and compliance requirements (iGaming or other regulated-industry exposure is a strong advantage).
- Curiosity, ownership and a collaborative style. You're comfortable disagreeing respectfully and learning from feedback.
What success looks like
Your features land on time, well-tested and stable in production, with fewer post-release incidents and less rework. Production issues are resolved quickly and stay resolved. Your estimates help the team make commitments it can keep, your code reviews raise the bar and help junior developers grow, and the way you use AI responsibly makes the whole team faster and smarter.
