Engineering Manager - Data (AWS / GCP)

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Engineering Manager - Data to lead the design, development, and scaling of our next-generation data platform. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Data Engineering, Cloud Technologies (AWS/GCP), and team leadership, with proven experience in high-growth B2C/D2C consumer internet companies. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, people leadership, and strategic thinking to build scalable, reliable, and data-driven solutions that power business growth and customer experiences at scale.

Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of Data Engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and engineering excellence.
• Drive the architecture, design, and implementation of large-scale data platforms and data pipelines.
• Build and manage batch and real-time data processing systems to support analytics, reporting, machine learning, and operational use cases.
• Partner closely with Product, Analytics, Data Science, and Business teams to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions.
• Establish engineering best practices, coding standards, deployment processes, and operational excellence frameworks.
• Ensure data quality, governance, security, reliability, and compliance across the data ecosystem.
• Drive cloud adoption and optimisation initiatives leveraging AWS and/or GCP services.
• Define technical roadmaps, capacity planning, and execution strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Manage project delivery, stakeholder communication, and team performance.
• Continuously improve platform scalability, availability, observability, and cost efficiency.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 11+ years of overall experience in Software Engineering/Data Engineering.
• 3+ years of experience leading and managing Data Engineering teams.
• Strong experience working in B2C/D2C consumer-facing product companies.
• Proven experience building and scaling large-scale data platforms serving millions of users.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, data architecture, and cloud-native technologies.

• Experience in consumer internet, e-commerce, fintech, travel-tech, food-tech, marketplace, or large-scale digital platforms.
• Exposure to Machine Learning and Data Science platforms.
• Experience with modern data architectures including Lakehouse implementations.
• Prior experience managing geographically distributed teams.
• Degree from a Tier-1/Tier-2 engineering institute is preferred.
