Currently, around 4,000 employees are working at CARIAD on the digital transformation of the car. CARIAD is working intensively on the software and technology platform for Premium Platform Electric (PPE). The first vehicles based on PPE will be the electric Porsche Macan and Audi Q6 e-tron. At the core of CARIAD is the development of the unified and scalable software and technology platform E³ 2.0 for all Group brands. E³ stands for ‘end to end electronics architecture’. The new software and technology platform is built from scratch and will be used first at the end of 2024 in Artemis, the lighthouse project of Audi. As of 2026, E³ 2.0 is due to be scaled by the Volkswagen brand with Trinity in the volume segment.

CARIAD COE (Centre of Excellence) is setup in Bangalore, India working exclusively with CARIAD and associated VW groups with the focus on development of ‘VW.OS”. The areas of work involve development of platform components such as firmware, boot loaders, AUTOSAR, Linux/QNX BSP, Service oriented architecture-based middleware components.

Job Description:

Job Title: Baseline & Release Manager

Experience: 7 to 10 years

Job Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Baseline & Release Manager to own and drive the build, baseline, and release processes within our Group Data Collector (GDC) team. The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in either Build Engineering or DevOps, combined with solid working knowledge of the other domain. This role is responsible for automating and optimizing software build pipelines, managing configuration baselines, orchestrating releases, and ensuring seamless integration between development and operations teams. You will collaborate across engineering, QA, architecture, and product management to deliver reliable and high-quality software releases aligned with project milestones.

Responsibilities:

• Define, implement, and maintain automated build scripts and processes to compile, package, and prepare software releases using tools such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions
• Manage and maintain version control systems to track changes, ensure code integrity, and support software developers with version control best practices
• Own the baseline management process - establishing, tracking, and controlling software baselines across all project phases
• Design and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate software build, test, and deployment processes, promoting collaboration and quality assurance
• Orchestrate software releases, manage deployment activities, and maintain rollback procedures to ensure reliable delivery
• Set up and maintain development, testing, and production environments to ensure consistency and reliability across the project lifecycle
• Manage and create packages for various target platforms, including package configuration documentation
• Implement infrastructure automation using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools for provisioning, configuration, and environment management
• Configure and manage monitoring and logging tools to track system performance, detect issues, and support troubleshooting
• Integrate security measures and compliance checks into the delivery pipeline in coordination with dedicated security teams
• Investigate and resolve build failures, integration issues, and release blockers in a timely manner
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of build processes, baseline configurations, and release procedures
• Facilitate collaboration between development, QA, operations, and product management teams to support continuous improvement
• Coach and support software developers on build system contributions and version control workflows through a cooperative review process

Required Skills:

• 7+ years of experience in Build Engineering, Release Management, DevOps, or a closely related role
• Proven expertise in build automation using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or equivalent
• Strong hands-on experience with version control systems (Git/GitHub/GitLab) including branching strategies and baseline management
• Experience designing and managing CI/CD pipelines for build, test, and deployment automation
• Proficiency in package management and environment configuration across development, test, and production stages
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or Terraform
• Experience with configuration management and standardizing settings across multiple environments
• Strong troubleshooting skills for build failures and release process issues
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams

Nice-to-Have:

• Experience in the automotive domain with knowledge of Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) or ISO 26262 compliance
• Familiarity with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud infrastructure management
• Knowledge of monitoring and log management tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack)
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, and GitHub for project tracking and documentation
• Relevant certifications in DevOps, cloud, or release management (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, CKA)
