Currently, around 4,000 employees are working at CARIAD on the digital transformation of the car. CARIAD is working intensively on the software and technology platform for Premium Platform Electric (PPE). The first vehicles based on PPE will be the electric Porsche Macan and Audi Q6 e-tron. At the core of CARIAD is the development of the unified and scalable software and technology platform E³ 2.0 for all Group brands. E³ stands for ‘end to end electronics architecture’. The new software and technology platform is built from scratch and will be used first at the end of 2024 in Artemis, the lighthouse project of Audi. As of 2026, E³ 2.0 is due to be scaled by the Volkswagen brand with Trinity in the volume segment.
About our Group
CARIAD COE (Centre of Excellence) is setup in Bangalore, India working exclusively with CARIAD and associated VW groups with the focus on development of ‘VW.OS”. The areas of work involve development of platform components such as firmware, boot loaders, AUTOSAR, Linux/QNX BSP, Service oriented architecture-based middleware components.

Engineering Manager - OTA Platform & Software Updates
Role Summary
Lead the development, delivery, and operational excellence of OTA (SOTA/FOTA) platforms and services for connected vehicles. The role combines engineering leadership, program execution, stakeholder management, and organizational development to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable OTA capabilities across global vehicle programs.
Must Have
Engineering & People Leadership
- Lead, develop, and scale high-performing software engineering teams.
- Drive hiring, coaching, mentoring, succession planning, and career development.
- Foster ownership, accountability, collaboration, and engineering excellence.
Program & Delivery Ownership
- Own end-to-end delivery of OTA features and engineering commitments.
- Drive execution plans, milestones, resource allocation, release readiness, and risk management.
- Ensure predictable, high-quality, on-time delivery.
- Manage dependencies across product, architecture, cybersecurity, validation, cloud, and vehicle software teams.
Stakeholder & Global Collaboration
- Serve as key interface for global stakeholders, customers, and leadership.
- Communicate delivery status, risks, mitigations, and engineering KPIs.
- Align distributed teams and partners to common business objectives.
Agile & Operational Excellence
- Drive Agile/SAFe execution, backlog prioritization, and continuous improvement.
- Use engineering metrics to improve efficiency and delivery predictability.
- Manage technical debt, quality, sustainability, and compliance.
Quality, Compliance & Governance
- Ensure adherence to ASPICE, ISO 26262, cybersecurity, and software quality processes.
- Drive governance, milestone reviews, risk assessments, and management reporting.
- Champion a quality-first engineering culture.
Good to Have - Technical
OTA & Connected Vehicles
- SOTA/FOTA platforms, OTA campaign management, and deployment orchestration.
- Vehicle software lifecycle, fleet management, and connected vehicle ecosystems.
- Vehicle-cloud communication architectures.
Cloud & Backend
- AWS/Azure/GCP and cloud-native architectures.
- Microservices, distributed systems, REST APIs, and event-driven architectures.
- Java/Python/Go, Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD, and DevOps.
Automotive & Cybersecurity
- Connected vehicle platforms, SOA, AUTOSAR Adaptive, Linux, Ethernet, diagnostics, and telematics.
- ISO 21434 and UNECE R155/R156 awareness.
- Secure updates, PKI, code signing, and secure deployment.
Tools & Practices
- Jira, Confluence, GitHub/GitLab/Bitbucket.
- Release management, CI/CD, and data-driven engineering KPIs.
- Experience in globally distributed automotive software organizations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s/master’s degree in computer science, Electronics, Electrical, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
- 12+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years in engineering leadership.
- Proven experience leading multiple teams and large-scale global software programs.
- Strong people leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and organizational development skills.
Ideal Profile: Delivery-focused engineering leader with strong people-management and organizational scaling capabilities, with experience in OTA, connected vehicles, cloud, or automotive software platforms.
