This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s locations: The Madison Club, located outside of La Quinta, California.

The Madison Club is seeking a Lead Teaching Professional to join the Golf Operations Department.

The Lead Teaching Professional is responsible for delivering exceptional golf instruction and creating personalized development experiences for members, guests, and junior golfers. This position will provide individual lessons, group clinics, player development programs, and other instructional opportunities designed to enhance golf performance, enjoyment, and participation.

The ideal candidate is an accomplished golf professional with strong instructional skills, excellent communication abilities, and a genuine passion for developing golfers of all ages and skill levels. The Golf Teaching Professional will work collaboratively with the golf operations team to uphold the highest standards of service, professionalism, and hospitality while contributing to the overall success of the club's golf programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:

Golf Instruction and Player Development

  • Provide individual and group golf instruction tailored to the skill level, goals, and needs of each student.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive player development programs for adults, juniors, beginners, and advanced golfers.
  • Conduct golf clinics, instructional workshops, playing lessons, and specialized training sessions.
  • Evaluate students' golf swings, short-game techniques, putting, course management, and overall performance.
  • Utilize appropriate instructional technology, video analysis, launch-monitor data, and other training tools to enhance the learning experience.
  • Establish development plans and track student progress to support long-term improvement.
  • Promote participation in club instructional programs and encourage continued engagement in the game.

Member and Guest Experience

  • Build positive, professional relationships with members, guests, and families through personalized service and consistent communication.
  • Provide a welcoming, supportive, and engaging learning environment for golfers of all abilities.
  • Maintain a flexible instructional schedule that accommodates member needs and club programming.
  • Communicate lesson availability, program details, and instructional recommendations clearly and professionally.
  • Represent the club with discretion, integrity, and a commitment to exceptional hospitality

Golf Program Development

  • Plan, organize, and implement seasonal instructional programs, junior golf activities, clinics, and golf schools.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Golf and Head Golf Professional to identify opportunities to expand instructional offerings.
  • Support junior golf development initiatives and encourage participation in club events and competitive opportunities.
  • Assist with golf-related events, tournaments, member activities, and special programming as assigned.
  • Monitor program participation and provide recommendations for improving the quality and effectiveness of instructional services.

Golf Operations and Professional Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with the golf professional staff, outside services team, practice facility personnel, and other club departments.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and professional instructional environment.
  • Ensure teaching equipment, training aids, and instructional technology are properly maintained.
  • Follow club policies, operating procedures, safety standards, and applicable employment requirements.
  • Maintain appropriate professional credentials and pursue continuing education to remain current with instructional methods and industry practices.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated experience providing golf instruction in a private club, resort, or comparable golf environment.
  • Strong understanding of golf swing mechanics, short-game instruction, putting, course management, and player development.
  • Experience working with golfers across a broad range of ages, abilities, and skill levels.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to establish trust, build lasting relationships, and deliver personalized instructional experiences.
  • Familiarity with golf instructional technology and performance analysis tools preferred.
  • Current CPR, first aid, or other relevant safety certifications preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and peak golf seasons, based on club operations and member needs.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to spend extended periods outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and demonstrate golf movements for extended periods.
  • Ability to transport and handle golf clubs, teaching aids, and related instructional equipment.
  • Ability to work safely around golf courses, practice facilities, golf carts, and other golf operations.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

The Company’s good faith estimate of the Annual rate it expects to pay for this role is $102,960 and is based on applicable and specialized experience and location.
