Accountant

About the Role

The Accountant (6-month contract) supports DKSH's Finance team in delivering accurate and compliant general ledger accounting, with an initial focus on balance sheet review and clean-up for assigned entities. This role contributes to financial integrity and reporting quality by supporting month-end and year-end closing, Goods and Services Tax (GST) and corporate tax compliance, external audit requirements, and ad-hoc Finance projects.

What You Will Deliver

• Perform review and clean-up of balance sheet accounts for assigned entities, with a focus on aged and long-outstanding items to restore accuracy and completeness

• Investigate reconciling items and accounting discrepancies, following through with relevant stakeholders to ensure timely and effective resolution

• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accounts are adequately supported and substantiated with appropriate documentation

• Support general ledger (GL) accounting and month-end closing activities, including preparation and review of journal entries, accruals, provisions, and other accounting adjustments

• Review accounting entries and closing activities performed by Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) partners and follow up on outstanding matters to maintain closing timelines

• Support intercompany reconciliation and clearing of outstanding balances to ensure accurate entity-level reporting

• Support year-end closing and external audit requirements, including preparation of schedules and supporting documentation

• Support preparation and review of Goods and Services Tax (GST) returns and reconciliations, and assist with corporate income tax compliance and tax schedules

• Liaise with internal teams, BPO partners, and external stakeholders to resolve accounting and tax matters effectively

• Contribute to ad-hoc Finance projects and assignments including fixed asset verification, data clean-up, and process improvement initiatives

• Administrative duties and coordination tasks as required

What You Bring

• Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline

• Minimum 3 years of relevant accounting experience with hands-on general ledger (GL) experience

• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting principles and financial reporting standards

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, reconciliation, and reporting

• Experience with SAP is preferred

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across internal teams, BPO partners, and external stakeholders

• Good analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate discrepancies and drive issues to resolution

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines

• Hands-on and proactive, with the ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned tasks

• Detail-oriented with a strong sense of accountability and a resourceful approach to problem resolution

• Adaptable and comfortable navigating both routine accounting responsibilities and ad-hoc project work
