About This Role

Dow has an exciting opportunity for aSenior EH&S Technician at the Houston Hub (Deer Park, Texas City and LaPorte, Texas).

You will share responsibility for the implementation of EH&S management systems, in order to meet business objectives and to maintain the license to operate. You will provide hands-on environmental, industrial hygiene (IH), and health and safety (H&S) activities for one or more plant. You will require full proficiency in a range of technical, operational, or analytical/scientific processes and procedures through job-related training and considerable on the job experience to perform a variety of work assignments. You will act as an informal resource for team members with less experience.

You will be accountable in partnership with plant operations to monitor for deficiencies and initiate corrective actions to achieve plant EHS performance and expectations.

Responsibilities

• Possess working knowledge of all EH&S Work Processes and tools, working knowledge of plant /department operations and processes, and excellent communication skills.
• Can interpret and apply Dow Safety Standards and Policies
• Knowledge of all company H&S requirements for areas of responsibility.
• Demonstrate leadership by participating in identification, resolution, and escalation of EH&S opportunities.
• Develop and implement H&S management system (work processes, standards, training material and procedures) as appropriate within areas of responsibility.
• Ensures the H&S aspects of the operating discipline are adequate and applied to achieve performance goals.
• Implements detailed, task level, day to day Health and Safety programs, utilizing the EH&S work process, standards, and procedures.
• Maintain existing H&S programs/ initiatives designed to improve performance (LCS, RTO, housekeeping, etc..)
• Assists in developing and achieving area or plant H&S goals, eliminating injuries, reducing exposures, etc.
• Active participant on the department EH&S team.
• Maintain/ update safety indoctrination materials (Power point, guest in house, hardhat stickers, etc) and deliver as necessary.
• Serves as contact for Environmental, IH, and Health and Safety issues.
• Coaches’ teams and individuals on EH&S related tasks and activities.
• Assists in developing and achieving area or plant EH&S goals.
• Ensures compliance tasks are completed.
• Performs/coordinates certain Environmental, and IH monitoring, data collection, analyzing and reporting for the Plant.

Required Qualifications

• A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to work overtime and nights as needed.
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
• Must have current, valid US Driver’s License.
• A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in an operations/manufacturing role with emphasis on EH&S projects and/or initiatives.

Physical Requirements

• Must be willing and able to do the following with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
• Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
• Work at heights, climb stairs and ladders.
• Work in tight and closed in spaces.
• Wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to respirator, earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes.
• Work at heights greater than or equal to 4 ft off the ground. Must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE), including harnesses with a total weight capacity of 300lbs. (This typically accommodates individuals who weigh 285 or less)

• Problem Solving: Identifies EH&S deficiencies, investigates root causes, and implements corrective actions to improve safety performance, compliance, and operational effectiveness.
• Analytical Thinking: Collects, evaluates, and interprets environmental, industrial hygiene, and health and safety data to identify trends, assess risks, and support informed decision-making.
• Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S): Applies EH&S management systems, safety standards, policies, and regulatory requirements to maintain compliance, reduce risk, and support a safe workplace.
• Prioritization: Effectively manages multiple safety, compliance, monitoring, and improvement activities by assessing risk, urgency, and business impact to meet plant objectives.
• Communication: Clearly communicates EH&S requirements, safety expectations, training materials, and corrective actions while collaborating with operations, maintenance, contractors, and leadership teams.
