We currently have a full-time opportunity for an experienced Painter. Join our Health and Education team at Sunshine Coast University Hospital and play a key role in providing painting, finishing, and surface maintenance services across hospital facilities, ensuring a safe, hygienic, and visually appealing environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Reporting to the Project Delivery Manager, you'll help deliver high-quality outcomes that support our essential services.

This is a full-time position supporting a live hospital environment. Working hours are flexible and may vary based on operational requirements. While a significant portion of works are currently undertaken after hours, including evening shifts, future works may be scheduled during standard business hours. Overtime opportunities are available.

What You’ll Do (key responsibilities)

This role offers a broad scope, with key responsibilities including:

  • Complete painting works in accordance with the approved lifecycle scope, program and project requirements.
  • Review work areas and confirm surface preparation, access, materials and site requirements before commencing.
  • Identify any additional defects or scope issues and report them to the Project Delivery Managerbefore undertaking work outside the approved scope.
  • Coordinate works with the Lifecycle and Projects team to achieve agreed project timeframes.
  • Protect existing finishes, fixtures, equipment and occupied areas during the works.
  • Complete quality checks, touch-ups and final inspections before handover.
  • Maintain accurate records of completed areas, materials used, work hours and any project issues identified.
  • Ensure all work complies with hospital safety standards, infection control, and regulatory requirements. Ensure safe use, storage, and disposal of paints, solvents, and chemicals
  • Comply with Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) standards.
  • Communicate effectively with hospital departments to minimize disruption during painting tasks.

What You’ll Bring (experience required)

  • Certificate III in Painting and Decorating, or an equivalent recognised trade qualification.
  • Current Construction Industry White Card.
  • Previous experience in commercial or institutional painting is preferred; however, it is not essential.
  • The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of painting techniques, tools, and materials.
  • Ability to match colours and finishes to hospital standards.
  • Knowledge of OHS regulations and safe handling of hazardous materials.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to undertake required pre-employment and site-specific checks, including a Working with Children Check.
