Site Caretaker/Handyperson - Full Time - South Australia Schools

We currently have an opportunity for a Site Caretaker/Handy Person based at Adelaide West Special Education Centre and travelling between Woodville Gardens School and Roma Mitchell Secondary College as operational needs require. Join our Health and Education team and play a key role in the delivery of cleaning, maintenance, grounds, and garden services to School administration buildings, classrooms, outdoor areas, ablutions, change rooms, common rooms, and other areas. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you'll help deliver high-quality outcomes that support our essential services and achieve contractual obligations around safety, performance, quality, communications and special school projects.

What You’ll Do (key responsibilities)

This role offers a broad scope, with key responsibilities including:

• Site opening/closing and out-of-hours events on a rotating roster
• Supervise and coordinate daily site operations including cleaning, grounds keeping, and general maintenance
• Ensure all works are completed safely and to The Downer Standard
• Conduct routine inspections, stocktakes, and audits to ensure compliance with service agreements
• Rotating roster - 7am-3:06pm/9am-5pm - Monday to Friday

What You’ll Bring (experience required)

• Previous experience in site, facility, or contractor management (desirable)
• Background in maintenance, cleaning, or building operations (desirable)
• Understanding of OH&S regulations.

• Current Driver’s License (mandatory)

• Own reliable transport (mandatory)

• Good communication and interpersonal skills

• Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling tasks
