DUAL is an international specialist underwriting group and managing general agent headquartered in London, writing commercial property, casualty, financial lines, professional indemnity, cyber, marine and construction risks on behalf of rated insurers and reinsurers. The group is part of Howden, the employee-owned international insurance group, and reports more than 1,750 people in 21 countries, over 70 product lines and about 3 billion euros of gross written premium, with a Benelux branch in Rotterdam. It hires underwriters, claims handlers, account executives, finance and accounting staff, and IT specialists, largely through the Howden group careers board.

Who are we?

Howden is a global insurance group with employee ownership at its heart. Together, we have pushed the boundaries of insurance. We are united by a shared passion and no-limits mindset, and our strength lies in our ability to collaborate as a powerful international team comprised of 24,000 employees spanning over 56 countries.

People join Howden for many different reasons, but they stay for the same one: our culture. It’s what sets us apart, and the reason our employees have been turning down headhunters for years. Whatever your priorities - work / life balance, career progression, sustainability, volunteering - you’ll find like-minded people driving change at Howden.

The role

The Account Manager will join the Market Management (T20) team within Howden Markets, supporting strategic relationships with insurance carriers and helping deliver consultancy-led services that drive commercial and operational success. The role is accountable for managing stakeholder engagement, providing market and performance insights, supporting strategic initiatives, and helping develop solutions that align carrier objectives with broader business goals.

Please note that this is a full-time, permanent role based in our Central London office. You are expected to be onsite 4-5 days per week on average.

What you’ll be doing

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with carrier partners and key internal stakeholders.
  • Act as a point of contact for client queries, issues, and ongoing strategic discussions.
  • Support the development and delivery of carrier engagement strategies and commercial initiatives.
  • Analyse market, trading, and performance data to identify trends, opportunities, and risks.
  • Produce reports, dashboards, presentations, and management information to support decision-making.
  • Contribute to insurer and placement strategies through insight, analysis, and market intelligence.
  • Develop proposals and recommendations tailored to carrier objectives and business priorities.
  • Support digital and data-led initiatives that enhance service delivery and stakeholder value.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure activities comply with regulatory and governance requirements.
  • Represent the business at industry events and share market developments, trends, and best practice with stakeholders.

Who we're looking for

  • Experience in account management, relationship management, carrier management, or a similar insurance-focused role.
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry and London Market operating environment.
  • Experience working with internal and external stakeholders to deliver commercial objectives.
  • Ability to analyse data, identify trends, and present findings in a clear and meaningful way.
  • Experience producing reports, presentations, proposals, and management information.
  • Demonstrable understanding of business planning, strategic initiatives, or consultancy-led services.
  • Experience working within regulated environments and following governance requirements.

Qualifications

  • Degree-level education preferred.
  • ACII studies commenced or a willingness to continue professional insurance qualifications.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Strong numerical and analytical capability with proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

What do we offer in return?

A career that you define. At Howden, we value diversity - there is no one Howden type. Instead, we’re looking for individuals who share the same values as us:

  • Our successes have all come from someone brave enough to try something new

  • We support each other in the small everyday moments and the bigger challenges

  • We are determined to make a positive difference at work and beyond

Reasonable adjustments

We're committed to providing reasonable accommodations at Howden to ensure that our positions align well with your needs. Besides the usual adjustments such as software, IT, and office setups, we can also accommodate other changes such as flexible hours* or hybrid working*.

If you're excited by this role but have some doubts about whether it’s the right fit for you, send us your application - if your profile fits the role’s criteria, we will be in touch to assist in helping to get you set up with any reasonable adjustments you may require.

*Not all positions can accommodate changes to working hours or locations. Reach out to your Recruitment Partner if you want to know more.
