WE OFFER:

  • Compensation: $58,900 Fixed Annual Rate
  • Work Environment: Onsite in Lafayette and Kokomo

  • Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8 AM - 5 PM EST with on-call responsibilities as needed to support operational needs and program coverage
  • Travel Requirement: Approximately 50% travel throughout Lafayette and Kokomo areas

The Area Manager oversees multiple residential homes and staff teams within an assigned region, providing leadership, operational oversight, and program support to ensure high-quality, person-centered services and compliance with state, licensing, and Medicaid requirements.

This role focuses on team leadership, staff development, program operations, compliance oversight, and problem-solving. The Area Manager partners with staff, leadership, individuals served, families, and community stakeholders to maintain smooth operations, support employee accountability, and ensure consistent, compliant care across all programs.

The Area Manager also plays a critical role in maintaining operational stability, addressing program concerns, and supporting individuals in making meaningful choices within community-based residential settings.

WHAT YOU GET TO DO:

  • Program Leadership & Team Development: Supervise, coach, and support employees across assigned residential programs while promoting accountability, teamwork, professional development, and high-quality service delivery. Support hiring, onboarding, scheduling, training, and ongoing staff development initiatives across assigned programs.
  • Program Operations & Compliance: Oversee daily operations of multiple homes and programs to ensure services remain person-centered, compliant, and aligned with organizational standards, policies, licensing requirements, Medicaid Waiver regulations, and certification standards. Maintain readiness for audits, inspections, and licensing reviews.
  • Participant & Family Support: Promote individual choice, independence, and person-centered planning while assisting with operational, staffing, participant, and family concerns in a positive and professional manner.
  • Operational Performance & On-Call Support: Monitor staffing trends, program performance, operational needs, and fiscal responsibilities in partnership with leadership teams while participating in on-call rotation and responding to emergencies or operational concerns as needed.

MUST HAVE:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or a related field required, including Psychology, Counseling, Sociology, Allied Health, or Human Services.
  • Experience: 2-3+ years of experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, long-term care, or community-based services, including prior supervisory or management experience within residential or human services settings.
  • Program Knowledge: Understanding of person-centered supports, compliance standards, and Medicaid/CIH Waivers or HCBS services preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and the ability to adapt to new technology platforms.
  • Licensure & Transportation: Valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets agency insurance requirements.

NICE TO HAVE:

  • Industry Expertise: Experience supporting multi-site residential or community-based programs.
  • Leadership Development: Experience with staff development, training coordination, or leadership mentoring.
  • Operational Insight: Data-driven performance management experience.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Knowledge of Indiana-specific disability service regulations, including residential and community-based program standards.

SKILLS CRITICAL FOR SUCCESS:

  • Leadership & Staff Development: Effectively lead Program Directors, supervisors and direct care staff through coaching, accountability, and ongoing development.
  • Communication: Clearly communicate expectations, policy changes, performance concerns, and operational priorities while building strong relationships with staff, individuals served, guardians, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Problem-Solving & Decision-Making: Quickly assess staffing issues, behavioral concerns, incidents, compliance risks, and operational challenges and determine appropriate next steps.
  • Prioritization & Time Management: Balance multiple homes, competing priorities, staffing needs, meetings, audits, incidents, and administrative responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Attention to Detail: Maintain strong knowledge of Medicaid waiver requirements, licensing standards, documentation expectations, incident reporting, and quality assurance while ensuring programs remain audit ready.
  • Staffing & Workforce Management: Monitor scheduling, overtime, vacancies, call-offs, training, and staff performance to maintain appropriate coverage and consistent service delivery.
  • Person-Centered Mindset: Ensure services are aligned with each individual’s goals, preferences, rights, ISP/BSP, health needs, and level of independence.
  • Financial & Operational Awareness: Understand budgets, overtime, staffing utilization, billable services, program expenses, and operational efficiencies while maintaining quality of care.
