Digital Machine Operator

SUMMARY:

POSITION INFO:

To produce top quality digital print work according to the work ticket, in the time allocated. Ensure that machines are kept in good working condition and according to Supplier requirements and company standards.

Key Performance Indicators

• Ensure quality production of print work, minimised or no reprints

• Minimised machine downtime

• Seamless print production

Nature and Scope of the Job

Operations Management

• Follow print order set on the Print Plan

• Mark jobs complete on Print Plan and indicate if any problems

• Ensure stock and consumables for the next 2 jobs

• Follow instructions on work tickets, read and complete the Job Approval Checklist

• Ensure printed stacks are labelled and materials utilised according to work ticket

• Ensure completeness & make ready to (iso) standards

• Ensure stock sheets are filled in for every job

• Ensure SFM is updated throughout the shift

• Compliance with rules and regulations

• Throughput of production at optimum level – communicate job status to shift supervisor

Machine maintenance

• Pre-shift inspection of the equipment

• Adhere to weekly, monthly scheduled maintenance plan

• Report on maintenance problems via the correct system

• Logging of equipment performance on agreed index

• Report machine breakdowns and down time

Quality Assurance

• Ensure that all quality measures are adhered to

• Manage wastage and spoilage

• Track quality, quantity and cost of job outputs

Human resources

• Compliance with company policies, procedures, rules and regulations

• Adherence to attendance, timekeeping, conduct and disciplinary requirements

• Compliance with Health & Safety policies and procedures

• Participate in training and development as required

Safety & Security

• Ensure compliance of the department – operates within the boundaries of the OHSA regulation

Competencies Required

Knowledge:

• Minimum Matriculation certificate or equivalent Technical Diploma

• Trade test qualification

Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years’ operational experience as a digital print operator

• Computer literate Printing and Finishing Technologies compulsory
