DXC Technology is an American information technology services company formed in 2017 by merging Computer Sciences Corporation with the enterprise services division of Hewlett Packard Enterprise. It runs and modernises the IT estates of large organisations, covering cloud and infrastructure operations, application management, security services, and industry software for insurance, banking and healthcare clients across some seventy countries. Headquartered in Ashburn, Virginia and listed on the New York Stock Exchange, the company has spent recent years shrinking legacy outsourcing revenue while trying to grow consulting and engineering work.

Job Description:

Clearance: Must hold AGSVA Baseline clearance

Work Hours: Standard business hours with participation in an on-call roster as required

Why Federal Government?

Working with a Federal Government client means contributing to services that Australians rely on every day. In this role, you will help keep sensitive cloud platforms secure, available, compliant, and trusted in a highly governed Commonwealth environment. It is an opportunity to support high-impact public sector services, strengthen Australian data sovereignty, contribute to cyber security uplift, and improve the reliability, resilience, and efficiency of critical technology platforms.

Position Overview

Role purpose: We are looking for a Cloud Operations Delivery Lead with deep Microsoft Azure expertise to support secure, compliant, and resilient cloud operations for a Federal Government client.

Operating environment: This role requires practical experience operating Azure environments in a Commonwealth context, with strong knowledge of governance, automation, operational excellence, and public sector security expectations aligned to AGSVA clearance obligations, the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF), the Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM), Essential Eight maturity uplift, privacy obligations, and Australian data sovereignty requirements.

Leadership focus: You will lead a team responsible for operating, optimising, and continuously improving Azure services that support critical Federal Government outcomes. The role involves working closely with agency stakeholders, cyber security teams, architects, vendors, service integrators, and delivery teams to maintain availability, manage risk, support audit and assurance activities, improve cost transparency, and embed CloudOps best practices across secure Commonwealth cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team to deliver world-class services to our customers.
  • Operate and maintain Azure cloud environments for Federal Government workloads, ensuring alignment with PSPF, ISM, Essential Eight, privacy, data sovereignty, and agency-specific security requirements.
  • Implement Azure governance frameworks, including Azure policy, RBAC, cost management, and tagging standards.
  • Provide operational support, including monitoring, incident response, and proactive remediation using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Sentinel.
  • Automate operational tasks using PowerShell, Azure CLI, and Bicep to improve efficiency and reduce risk.
  • Enhance observability and alerting for mission-critical services to meet agreed SLAs, operational reporting obligations, and Commonwealth compliance requirements.
  • Drive root cause analysis and implement service improvements for reliability and security.
  • Support disaster recovery, business continuity, and operational resilience planning in line with Federal Government, agency, and critical service requirements.
  • Collaborate with cyber security, governance, and assurance teams to maintain Zero Trust principles, implement cloud-native security controls, and support audit, IRAP-related evidence gathering, remediation, and continuous compliance activities.
  • Contribute to ongoing improvements, including CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices.
  • Represent DXC in client-facing discussions with support from the broader account team, explaining technical issues, risks, and options clearly for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Mandatory certification and clearance: Must hold AGSVA Baseline clearance and Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104), with practical experience managing enterprise Azure environments.
  • Certification pathway: Progressing towards or holding Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305).
  • Azure technical capability: Hands-on experience with Azure Virtual Machines, Networking, Storage, Azure Policy, Security Center, Sentinel, Azure Landing Zones, management groups, subscriptions, policy-as-code, and RBAC design.
  • Automation and DevOps: Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code using Bicep or ARM templates, automation scripting with PowerShell or Python, CI/CD pipelines, Git-based workflows, and DevOps practices.
  • Operations and monitoring: Experience with monitoring, incident management, observability, alerting, and proactive remediation in Azure environments.
  • Container platforms: Knowledge of containerisation and orchestration platforms, including Kubernetes, Azure Kubernetes Service, and Red Hat OpenShift.
  • Government, security, and compliance experience: Awareness of Federal Government security and compliance frameworks, including PSPF, ISM, Essential Eight, privacy obligations, IRAP assessment expectations, and agency assurance processes.
  • Communication and stakeholder skills: Excellent communication skills and ability to work with Federal Government stakeholders, service integrators, technical teams, and cyber security representatives in a clear, professional, and outcomes-focused manner.

Desirable Experience

  • Cost optimisation, chargeback/showback, and financial transparency strategies for Commonwealth cloud workloads.
  • Hybrid cloud integration with on-premises systems.
  • Knowledge of Australian data sovereignty, privacy, protected-level hosting considerations, and secure cloud operations for Federal Government environments.
  • ITIL 4 Foundation or higher.
  • Experience supporting audit, risk, and assurance activities in a government or regulated environment.
  • Exposure to SIAM/service integration models, especially where multiple vendors support the same agency platform.
